^WHATS STOPING YOU FROM WATCHING A PLAYTHRU (NO TALKING) VIDEO, NOW^
Why are you pushing people to watch playthroughs?
It’s like you are encouraging them to give up on enjoying it firsthand
This post is so bizarre. It’s like they only asked the question in order to push people to watch a playthrough as if it’s some sort of “gotcha.”
But they aren’t the same thing to, I’d say, most people. It’s like I asked someone, “Where on earth have you anyways wanted to visit?” and then said, “Why haven’t you looked at pictures then, idiot!”
It’s free (and legal!) real-estate.
I have watched playthroughs as a substitute before, and honestly I don’t feel like I’m missing out for most games as they are linear (or close enough to it). Add in common annoyances I have (things like inventory management, hunger, backtracking etc), and I will likely enjoy the playthrough more (with talking/video themes especially). In fact, there are a few games I tried after LPs and that still held true.
Then again I also have no problem watching an LP of a game I’ve already played, and I may even see something new (or forgotten).
I thknk playthroughs can make a lot of sense for some games, but it realy depends on the game. Like if it’s the Last of Us where the primary appeal is the story and there’s little in the way of plot-relevant decisions made by the player, you don’t lose much at all by not being the player. That makes sense
OP is asking why people aren’t watching playthroughs of stuff like Majora’s Mask where half the point of the whole thing is solving puzzles, though. I’m pretty sure they’d have asked me about the decision-heavy RPG I mentioned if I hadn’t pre-emptively answered
maybe i want
theA quick winWin?
I don’t want to watch someone else play a game. I want to play the game myself.
Which is what I do, when I have time
Totally. What’s a movie you’ve always wanted to watch? Look up the plot summary on Wikipedia! You’re done!
Baba is You.
I call it the greatest game I have never played.
the “for fucks sake this is impossible! HOW!? HOW!? HOW!? oh, that’s how” is one of the most satisfying things in gaming. especially in this game
baba is confused
baba is angry
baba is surprised
baba is win
game is loop (/s)
It hurts my brain, but in a good way
Morrowind. So many people say it’s the best Elder Scrolls game, I even own it, but I think the older graphics plus my lack of free time keep me from committing.
Are you familiar with the Skywind project? If the team can actually finish it, that might be just the thing you’re looking for
Before this BOTW, now TOTK, reason is i don’t have a switch and emulator doesn’t run well on my machine.
As for why i haven’t watch playthrough of it, i like having fun myself and i don’t like watching people having fun, it’s like spectator sport and i don’t like those.
Chaos Esque Anthology
https://libregamewiki.org/Chaos_Esque_Anthology
It looks like an amazing FPS that has been extended in every direction, and can import maps from most other classic FPS.
I tried to install it 10 years ago, but got into dependency-hell. Should give it another crack.
SupraWorld
Baldurs Gate
Cause no time
Tyranny. It is the thing that has been in my steam backlog unplayed for the longest because I have simply not yet felt ready to consistently commit the mental effort to the idea of “you are an enforcer for a horrible evil empire that has already won”
OP, I have not watched a playthrough because it is an RPG, making decisions myself is a huge part of the appeal. I want to get invested in my version of the character and how they think. If I wanted a story guided by someone else I could just pick a film to watch
When are you playing it then?
Star Citizen. R.I.P.
So whats stopping the playthru watch?
It’s a sandbox game?
So
Majoras Mask. I’ve bought it, but am too wrapped up in factorio, another one I waited far to long to play.
It’s a fun one. The time limit feels oppressive at first, but once you get a few tools under your belt and a sense of what to prioritize, it’s pretty straightforward.
It helps to keep in mind that you don’t need to do as much as you can within a single cycle, you can do just a little bit and then start back over at day 1. You do enough to get a new tool or mask, and then those usually let you do something new or do something more easily the next time you go back in time.
Not sure which version you bought, but the 3DS version is a bit more user friendly because the song that lets you skip forward in time allows you to go to any specific time in that version, while the N64 version only goes to 6AM or 6PM.
The 3DS version is fantastic, although I really don’t like the updates they made to most of the boss fights. They changed the design for some of the bosses in a way that just feels out of place, thematically. But there’s so many other QoL improvements that I’d say it’s still worth playing over the N64 version.
Agreed, though for me I think the one thing I didn’t like about the 3DS version was the change made to Zora swimming. They reduced the base swim speed and made it so that you have to burn through magic to swim at the same speed as N64 Zora.
Why not watch playthru
I watch plenty of game stuff online, but there is no way I’m spoiling a game I’ve waited 20 years to play.
I’ll never get the chance to play an OG Zelda for the first time again.
That would eliminate satisfaction from figuring out the challenges yourself, no?
U gonna do it then?
Now you’re just trolling… Ive already played that game, anyway (I’m a different user than the one you commented on; and I see you have no response to my question).
Anno 1800 and other games like that. I don’t have the patience for the learning curve.
Whyhavent watched playthru
