I played according to rules but still felt a little bad about the one time I won an 8-player game of Munchkin because the door wasn’t a monster so I got to play one from my hand: a potted plant. They tried so hard to curse me or beef up the monster but I was way passed the level needed to beat it.

I don’t think we should inherently. I’ve thought about the idea of digitally signed photos and it seems sound unless someone is quite clever with electronics. I’m guessing there’s some embedded key on the camera that is hard but maybe not impossible to access. If people can hack Teslas for “full autopilot” or run Doom on an ATM machine I’m not confident that this kind of encryption will never be cracked. However, I would hope an expert witness would also examine the camera that supposedly took the picture. I would think it to be impossible for someone to acquire the key without a 3rd party detecting the intrusion.

Hoping it remains viable for a long time without updates. Syncing my KeePass database is really key for me. I need to fluidly add and read passwords from at least 3 devices.

Motion activated lights. I can probably count on one hand every time they’ve annoyed me. Otherwise having a light be on all day in a room I barely use would be 10x more frustrating.

I’d agree with this recommendation. I believe there were multiple occasions where my router assigned a dynamic IP the same as some other reserved IP. Hard as hell to diagnose. Key indicator was that roughly half the packets were being lost.

Noita. I don’t see how a single person has beaten it. Wand building is basically a game within the game (and I don’t get it – ditto for potions), the character is squishy with barely any healing mechanism, and every playthrough is randomized so there’s not a lot to learn from your mistakes. I guess it’s not a casual game (what I usually go for). I can’t see anyone getting any better at it if they only play it a few hours a week and watching just as many tutorial videos.

Birth of my first child. It wasn’t just life-changing because “now I’m a father” and such but he had heart disease and the first few months were really rough. It doubly reinforced that my time of being a big kid is over and I have to be an actual adult because lives can easily be ruined or lost by passing the buck and letting other people make my decisions for me.

You don’t seem to like pop music in general so I don’t know why you feel the need to specifically call out what’s basically a sub-genre of pop.

I’m not a manager but I’ve sat in on lots of interviews. I think the best candidates I’ve ever seen are the ones that are very conversational and talk like they’ve already worked there for a month. Sometimes candidates like that start an answer and we trail off, kind of shooting the shit (still talking about workb related stuff), and barely get through half the planned questions. Ones that get all the way through the questions aren’t necessarily bad but they’re very succinct and sound much more rehearsed, like it was an oral exam.

Just my 2 cents. Managers in here may totally contradict me.

The last Yarnfather

One of my uncles died from a gunshot. I say it like that because most of my family doesn’t believe he committed suicide but was killed by his girlfriend. I was really young when it happened and I know almost no details. Seems rude to ask about it now and I don’t want to retraumatize anyone but I am quite curious of the circumstances and if it really was suspicious or if his family just didn’t want to accept that he was depressed and hid it away.

I could also see this turning into a form of DoS attack. I’m sure there’s very little leeway in ignoring “bad faith” reports so if you have an instance you could be responsible for investigating thousands of reports per day. And if you take the safe route and remove anything that’s reported, until deemed safe, you might as well turn off your instance.

There’s gotta be some kind of limited liability for this kind of thing. I mean, banks wouldn’t be liable if someone put csam in a safe deposit box or (assuming they don’t x-ray packages) UPS shipping csam in a sealed package. I think there just needs to be reasonable safeguards against it but I don’t know if any of that is built into the software.

Sounds like an interesting experiment. Know if I can do this using Boost?
