From one of the Related Articles :

“I was just caught off guard and had no answer for my grandsons. All my gay friends [know] what’s up, they been calling me with love,” Snoop Dogg wrote. “My bad for not knowing the answers for a 6 yr old 😳. Teach me how to learn I’m not perfect.”

Good on his friends for calling him in.

Whatever his reasons for “going woke”, I prefer to see this route to the JK Rowling route.

Yeah, if we can’t accept people changing their minds, then we will always lose everything every time.

This is exactly what we should be looking for…

      Grandad says something bigoted.

      Younger people educate grandad.

Grandad publicly acknowledges that he was wrong and gives others an opportunity for others to do the same?

How do you complain about that?

        Preach.

When people come around we have to respect it. Some jokes along the way are cool too especially here which is practically offline (small circle of friends).

Hopefully we can all remember a stupid view we once had and if we apply the Lucky 10,000 concept we know that we happened to be challenged on it when we were young. Someone was older when they started to see things more equitably? Welcome to the light side!

this isn’t about love and acceptance. it’s about marketing lmao. snoop said some shit he knew would get him in the headlines and now he’s using that as an opportunity to plug his new TV show. he’s been doing this for decades. maybe lgbt people are tired of their struggles being exploited for a chance to sell eyeballs to advertisers?

Being black and LGBT is really hard, and if the black community doesn’t cancel him and maybe even listens, this is huge.

Oh come off it. Nobody in “the Black community” is listening to Calvin Broadus.

It’s hella weird to act like “the Black community” needs to learn to be less homophobic from this wack 🥷🏾. I need you to look at the white community making drag shows illegal, burning books about queer people, and firing Black women while you’re at it.

Americans have a problem with homophobia. Stop acting like Black people are singularly homophobic.

        Nah, trust but verify.

Calvin Broadus is 53 years old and was famous before the turn of century. He didn’t accidentally fall into Trump’s campaign celebrations and he decided on his own to complain about gay people for no reason. If he didn’t expect to catch push back for that then he can demonstrate a change, not just do a cameo and expect everyone to forget AAAALLL the shady shit he’s done over the years.

Judge someone like you got some sense, not like their latest PR campaign is the gospel truth.

So for the Trump thing. He’s rich and has been for decades. He wasn’t always rich. Sometimes we need reminders of where we came from. That’s exceedingly hard when everyone around you is highly likely to echo beliefs that may not resonate with how he was raised

For the LGBT thing… I’m speaking from experience, the black experience is not the white one. Gay is very much not cool even if they say it is.

Speak for yourself, buddy. Being Black and Gay is Cool As Fuck.

The Black Experience is not the white one, but I never said it was, so I’m not sure why you’re telling me what I already know.

Nothing you said suggests that we need to believe the latest press release is sincere. If Calvin wants to change his actions great. I’m just saying don’t get your hopes up about someone who has already blown through several redemption arcs.

There is always something to critique, huh? I think it’s positive that he has changed his stance regarding LGBTQ+ and even made a children’s song spreading the message that love is love. We need more inclusion, acceptance and tolerance in this society.

If Snoop is smart enough to spread a positive message and earn money at the same time, then good for him. At least he is trying to spread positivity to the world.

Did you forget the Trump event he played at? 😂

That’s not someone who has goodness in their heart. He’s an opportunist and business man who is more likely to end up heading events in Dubai with Dave Chappell over doing something meaningful to spite the oligarchs that are actively seeking to kill LGBTQ+ individuals.

Calling a black man “Uncle Tom” is like when MAGA calls you a “Race traitor” for being friends with none white people. “Uncle Tom” is widely used as a racist term against black people not “being black enough”.

Youre education system is American. Which means, racism is all you know. And its all you will ever be. Because you excuse it at every fucking turn. Its not enough to just comment on Snoops actions. No, you have to question his identify as a black man in America. By all means, please explain to the class what the colour of his skin has to do with his actions that you all so hate so much? You racist fucking prick!

Its not really that we have differing definitions, mate. If that you see it as fine to be racist, and I dont. There is ZERO reason to bring his skin colour into the conversation. Yet here you all are. Double, and even tripling down on being racist as fuck.

Well, at least he eventually did the right thing in the end. A lot of people in the comments are still roasting him for potential being disingenuous, but I’ll give credit where it’s due - biting people’s heads off after they chose to do the right thing after (well deserved) backlash doesn’t send the correct message to others that it’s worth it to listen to negative feedback rather than dig in their heels deeper.
