I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. If you are looking for ransom I can tell you I don’t have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my food go now that’ll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you, but if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you and I will kill you.

If I’m ordering delivery I’m probably not in the greatest place either, but I’m not heartless.

“I’m sorry to hear you’re having a bad day. Bring me my food unscathed, and I’ll place a second order you can pick up and keep. What do you want to drink?”

Screenshot and send to door dash personally. Sorry you’re having a bad day but maybe I am too? Maybe I’m having a worse day and couldn’t bring myself to cook. Dasher wants to get food at the place I ordered from? Awesome. Go for it. This is stealing though and idc how bad of a day you’re having. You shouldn’t be delivering food if you can’t… Deliver the food

It’s not stealing really, because you can report it for a refund, and the refunds on those apps happen pretty quickly. It would be annoying, but you would get your money back. Your money is basically in escrow until a while after you get your food, so you can also get refunded if your order is messed up. The driver doesn’t even really get in trouble unless they mess up often, they just don’t get the fare for that trip.

I mean it’s still a shitty thing to do, but it’s more like getting bad service than stealing. The same outcome would happen if your drivers vehicle broke down, for instance.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d be pissed. However, I’ve been in a similar state, and making them feel worse than they already are really isn’t something I want to do. I’m certainly not some saint that instantly forgives and forgets, but this person clearly has some serious problems and I don’t want to make it worse for them

I would probably say something like:

“I feel you, homie. I’m making another order—what do you want?”

Tipping percentage for delivery is silly. The value of the food doesn’t change the driver’s job. Tip based on the distance between you and the place you’re ordering from. $2 base with and additional $1 per mile is a good starting point, but most delivery drivers are not earning if they’re not delivering, so if you live a ways away from central restaurant locations you should dial it up to compensate for their drive back.

Or just call that a delivery fee. I am so done with tipping, why can’t it just be a fee?!

Delivery drivers work to get food to their customer, they should charge a fee for their work; not betting most of their income on the customer’s gratitude, which is expressed as a tip.

As a pizza boy, I would love to just see a solid $5/order. Currently, it seems the closer they are to the store, the higher the tip. I drove like 10 minutes out and got $1.80. Which is not my worst tip, but I’m just saying the further out, the lower the average.

I try to do it based on how difficult it is to carry. A few simple things in a single bag is not much. Spread across a few bags and drinks, that’s more.

Its not justo the value of the food. The value of the food is the value that the customer is willing to pay for food, which corresponds with the tip amount they can part with. However everything you’ve recommended is very thoughtful in its own right.

To improve prompt service, not to stop bitches from stealing your food when you’re too depressed to cook. Furthermore, 10% can do way too much or way too little depending on what the fuck was ordered. I manually enter tips. Clearly you’ve never ordered a full meal for 6 people from one of these services. Tips should be based on distance and time for the order. I just think it’s highly ridiculous to pay the delivery driver who did 20 minutes of work more than the cook makes in an hour.
