… and for the pedantic in the group you can take something modern with you to play the music.

50 to 60 years is only going back to 1965-1975, that’s not like ancient history or anything…

Johnny Cash would probably love hearing his cover of Hurt from 2002.

Go back to when Aerosmith released their debut album and introduce 24 year old Steven Tyler to the music of 77 year old Steven Tyler.

I would play Nick Cave’s song “into my arms” for The Kinks because I think they would enjoy it.

Can I show them some of those YouTube videos about “the evolution of music” with about 5 seconds of songs from each year?

I’m just not sure if I would use real songs from each year or make a fake one with X Factor participants getting, getting gradually worse. Then end with Bring Me To Life, Goofy version.

jim morrison predicted that some day a single person will be able to produce a full song with machines but never lived to see it happen, so i’m not sure exactly what but i’d definitely show him something entirely arranged and rendered on a computer

60 years takes us to 1965, hmm

Strong urge to just play “Venetian Snares - a lot of drugs” or “Aphex Twin - Ventolin” to someone and try to convince them that’s what everyone listens to in the future. But I can’t quite figure out who would give me the best reaction, maybe someone like Elvis

Playing something like “deadmau5 - Strobe” or basically anything from Chemical Brothers to people like Bob Moog or Don Buchla, would be a cool experience. Tbh they’d probably love a bit of Aphex

I was thinking show some breakbeat to some early house producers, but now I’m thinking Venetian Snare’s Cubist Reggae.
