I would love to show my family some of my “prouder” moments or bits I’ve written that show I can string a sentence or two together and maybe that I’m more thoughtful than perhaps I come across.
Also, does this tend to suggest a side of me that wants to “please” them? Might need to add that to my shadow work pile…

You want them to see your work
-
You want them to be proud of you for that work
-
You don’t want them to know it was you who wrote the work
Do I have that right?
-
is in your control. You can share your work with them.
-
this is not in your control. It is totally normal to want your family to be proud of you. Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee someone else’s emotions and responses.
-
also in your control, but conflicts with 2 and makes 1 more difficult
I hope this “shadow work” involves some therapeutic resources. You have some strong and conflicting thoughts and emotions going in here.
I appreciate the work you put towards this and Imma spend today marinating on it

Just to clarify, you want to show your family stuff you’ve written online, without them being able to identify your account?
If I were you, I’d just write new stuff for them.

It seems very contradictory - you want to show them your work but you don’t want them to know it’s your work, so how would it demonstrate to them that you can strong a sentence together?
It sounds like you have more work to do on yourself or learn the ancient martial art of Give No Fux.

That’s good to hear.
Thanks yo❤️ guyz, legit don’t know many I can share with like this, however obliquely
Not sure your exact situation, but from just the information you shared, there seem to be three options that you can choose from.
- remain undiscovered: just do nothing, stay where you are
- heavily curate your profile: get rid of the stuff you want to hide which I presume would be the reason you want to stay anonymous
- just show everything: hide nothing, let them judge you
There’s actually the fourth option in which you create something new just to show them, but would it be the kind of piece you’d be proud of? It wouldn’t be the same as the ones you’d want to show them.
Authenticity is becoming more and more vital in my view. Not like me being an asshole cuz it comes to me more honestly, but being able to get to the good stuff and find space for the “bad/unwanted” space to come in from the cold
You could rewrite your greatest hits and republish somewhere you don’t mind showing them. Take the approach of a student just changing enough so they’re unlikely to get caught plagiarising their sources.
Hahac love it! I actually stumbled into a preferable but more blind-faithy approach that has already unfolded but I’m going to use all this to help myself and others so its def a net positive and I want to legit warmly thank you for sitting with that insight here! My chin’s officially up!
I guess ai could (pun intended 🫢) paraphrase but part of me wants them to know me a bit more through what I put to paper, so to speak.
