Trump has a cult of personality that will probably assume any death in office is the result of foul play. It’s not impossible that Vance et al would spend a few days working on how to spin the issue to prevent a coup attempt by some MAGA nut jobs.
There’s no way it’d be kept under wraps. This White House is leaky as hell. There’s pretty good chances of another journalist being invited to a Signal chat on the matter.
GHW Bush was a far savvier political animal than Vance. He had a lot of experience by then. Vance only first held office in 2023, and he mostly wrote books and worked for investment firms before then.
