minus-squareTheFeatureCreature@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up24arrow-down9·1 year agoCan’t say I’m a fan of a country-specific holiday being featured like this in an intentionally neutral and international instance. Would have much preferred to see something for the trans day of remembrance.
minus-squareRuud@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up11arrow-down2·1 year agoWell I’m the owner of lemmy.world, and I’m Dutch. But still I know what Thanksgiving is, and many users are from the US, so why not? But I do agree we should also feature days like the Trans day of Remembrance. Maybe we could create a community-created list of special days?
minus-squaremy_hat_stinks@programming.devlinkfedilinkarrow-up6arrow-down3·1 year agoIt’s not really a neutral international instance though. Try posting non-US news to [email protected] and see what happens.
minus-squaredoleo@kbin.sociallinkfedilinkarrow-up8arrow-down2·1 year ago Try posting non-US news to !news and see what happens. Well that’s some high grade bullshit. “The World’s Internet Frontpage”. It’ll go unnoticed, but I think it’s appropriate to remind Americans that theyre co-opting terms like “news” to mean “American news”.
