Someone wouldn’t just go and say something on TV if it wasn’t true! Shouldn’t the president of the country have a bit of higher standard of evidence than “I saw someone say it on TV”?

Shouldn’t the president of the country have a bit of higher standard of evidence than “I saw someone say it on TV”?
