It’s already used in practice and working (as well as any other typical ideology in a democratic county), you have to think outside of 'murica. Probably you’re thinking of communism which has had a harder time in practice, but is generally a nice idea. Socialism stems from it, but it’s apples and pears. I’m not sure why Americans (correct me if I’m wrong) usually have this confusion regarding the two.
