Your mad that your phone number is tied to you, but you want signal to keep that system instead of using anonymous usernames made up when you register?
Right now it’s tied to a phone number, which is registered to a person at the cell company, associated w/ a CC and SSN.
Signal is ditching that for usernames for the very reason you mentioned, why do you think associating it with a phone # would prevent contacts from uploading your number to random apps? That’s already standard on most messenging apps, it won’t be starting if Signal changes.
