The Philip Morris tobacco company is hiring former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, a nonsmoker, for $1 million to serve as its international political consultant, the Sunday Times said.

After electoral defeat, she started a new career. Lobbyist for tobacco companies.

They even paid her birthday party:

Philip Morris’s chief executive, Geoffrey Bible, will chair the dinner. A spokesman for the company said: “Philip Morris is writing the Thatcher Foundation a cheque to cover the cost of the party”
