I work for a large enterprise and build ML model monitoring pipelines fairly frequently—this will be a more in depth but similar use case to what you’re asking.

We use Grafana (visualization) and Prometheus (timeseries db)—they’re built for this use case exactly. Tons of info out there on how to build, configure, connect to your sensors, and deploy it.

Sure, you can use IPA. It’s more toxic than ethanol but in the very small amounts we’re talking here it’s a negligible difference.

Then try it with cold vodka. The alcohol evaporates faster than water, so it really has that strong cooling effect.

Edit: not joking. I actually do this, the alcohol helps dissolve and clean the waxy buildup too.

I work with Linux and computers professionally. Documentation is written but almost nobody reads it. I can’t count the number of times I’ve bailed out colleagues stuck on a problem by spending a few hours reading the docs and then like magic some parameter in the API solves everything. I’ve been bailed out countless times in the same way. Software and computers are complex and even those who do RTFM miss things, because documentation is information dense, often written as an afterthought to the code, and APIs are not always even internally consistent with the documentation.

But the toxicity culture around that needs to go. I love it when people geek out over distro-hopping and whatnot, but superiority complexes over what distro you use (“Arch, btw I’m so much better than you”) is fucking stupid.

It gets stuck in my head. Wriggling around my brain and corrupting my thoughts. It eats. It devours. It consumes. Less and less of me remains, until there is no thought but to have faith that I can do anything, to get through the fire and the rain, that I can touch the sky and reach any star. My corruption is complete. Please turn it off.
