great, perfect imo

when you’re dealing with fundamentalists or extremists things turn nasty very quickly because you’re questioning their fantasy world
doesn’t matter if they’re good or bad faith, often they will just ban you
use a cheap vlan switch to make an actual vlan DMZ with the services’ router
use non-root containers everywhere. segment services in different containers
use nixos! you won’t regret it
indeed it is the clickbait, emotional guff
also lemmy is part of the problem
Don’t tell me the communists are here to save the day?
first i would say it “feels” that way because you’re consuming all the media that’s telling you that. everyone should moderate the media they consume to help their mental health while at the same time keeping informed.
the big structural issue is that countries are having trouble cooperating internationally to manage corporations and now individuals. the main mechanism for this is (again) media - both old and new social media.
we need democratically elected politicians to create rules for media to correct lies and protect democracy. also democracy itself needs further protection by controlling funding to political parties and during elections. all this will take time but is happening as we speak.
the future looks bright
cool, well thanks for the encouragement
it’s a minimalist experience at the moment so it’s very useful but far from full featured
i do use it all the time though (using it to write this) so maybe i should release it officially soon
it does render post comments at full depth (so all of them) in about 60% of the time of JS frameworks
that equates to a fraction of a second on most computers but it really does work better than the others. you can only really tell on massive posts with over 300 comments
ooh actually the other good feature is that from a cold start (empty window) it will render the page on the server side which means the page displays much quicker. the JS frameworks normally load the skeleton/engine first and then load the data and render the page
one i wrote myself in rust
well it’s nothing more than a minimalist lemmy reader at the moment with markdown rendering, replying, up/down etc. just the stuff you need when you’re doing your daily scroll.
i do use it daily and rarely have to use another app to do something but it’s by no means full featured. the one thing i would say is that when rendering long posts with 100s of comments is,… it’s blazingly fast :)
the one i wrote myself in rust
good point
i prefer the simplicity of gnome though so i guess i would go for Bluefin - to quote the Bluefin website:
The best of both worlds: the reliability and ease of use of a Chromebook, with the power of a GNOME desktop.
seem appropriate 😀
i think bazzite is currently the most chromebooky distro, much better of course
this, the “News” or, how people get information about their world, has been broken for 40 years or so
addictive, hate fueled, lie filled, drama news is the norm. murdoch must die
Leptos is very React-like but it’s Rust so it will be Rusty sometimes. you mentioned you’ve done the back end in Rust anyway.
with LLMs do you mean code suggestions like code-pilot or actually integrating with an LLM api?
do the front end in Leptos and host it on ForgeJo
usenet was Lemmy without the web UI
hauntingly accurate
