“Yeah, but only the weak ones…”
I don’t know, but I liked it anyway
I can’t take him like that, it’s against regulations
When I click that link, and go there in a browser without logging in, I only see 70ish comments listed. But I also see a lot of removed comments as I scroll down, mostly from a single user. My uneducated guess is that there was already some chicanery in the thread, which the Mods have dealt with, and you are seeing the result of that.
As far as what can be done about it, there really is little to be done, as log as Lemmy remains open (and federated). Posts and comments hop around from one instance to the other, and while some instances can take a hard line against bots some other instance can be more permissive then it becomes a game of whack-a-mole. Active, open moderation is the best cure, but takes effort.
It’s not just limited to Arabic words: Arabic Numbers are scary, too…
Boring and souless AF
It’s a corporate logo, what did you expect?
Yes, that is the actual headline
Oh they’ll figure out some tortured logic to make sure they get the outcome they want while screwing over people they hate.
The funny thing is, it was not explicitly clear at the time of the founding whether things like the First Amendment applied to States at all. After all, the Constitution applied to the Federal Government, and States had their own government…
… Until after the Civil War, when the 14th amendment was ratified. You might be familiar with the 14th Amendment as it is the one that guarantees birthright citizenship. Well, that’s just it’s first sentence. The second sentence also guarantees all citizens the rights enumerated in the Constitution, making it clear that the States cannot abridge those rights.
But right now, the plain language of the 14th Amendment is under attack by Conservatives who claim that it all of a sudden does not cover people born here whose parents are not citizens. So as long as today’s Conservatives will ignore one part of the 14th Amendment, why not ignore the rest and hope a captured SCOTUS makes it all hunky-dory after the fact!
SB 2972 would require public universities in Texas to adopt policies prohibiting “engaging in expressive activities on campus between the hours of 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.” Expressive activity includes “any speech or expressive conduct” protected by the First Amendment or Texas Constitution.
Let’s do the same thing with the second amendment and see how that goes over in Texas. “You have the right to bear arms, but not when you should be in bed…”
Since so many people are here because they consider the other platforms to be too enshittified, I like calling Lemmy “Antisocial Media”
Is your dad elderly and needs care because of his age? In the US, depending on the state you live in, you could be considered a “family caregiver” and might be able to collect additional benefits. Some states give out a bit of money to these family caregivers if it keeps those elderly people out of the care of the state.
There will be elections. There have to be, in order for the new Congress to be seated.
The only question is how ratfucked they will be…
Why not? There are other Trumps who are eligible. If Junior runs, they don’t even need to change the banners or the hats much. They dont even need to hide it, they can have big “Donald Trump jr for President” banners still. Dad can go campaigning, and they can make perfectly clear who will make the decisions.
Ladies and gentlemen, your 56th President…
It’s a scam. Do not engage. If a billionaire really wanted to send you money, they can pay for the lawyers and accountants to make sure it is all above board. Maybe they make a foundation and give you a cushy job there. That’s how actual billionaires do it. What you do with after is up to you (and your countries’ tax authorities, no doubt.)
Ironically, if it weren’t a scam, then crypto can be the safest way to receive any funds. If you securely generated your own crypto wallet, and sent him an address on a reputable blockchain to send funds to, and he actually sent them, then the money is yours, forever, no backsies.
Of course, that’s not how crypto scams work, either. They always guide you to use a wallet that they control (and can drain funds out of easily), or tell you to send crypto to them first to unlock something.
Looks like you want a brush with super hard bristles. I guess some places sell wild boar bristle brushes, I wonder what the boars think of that…
Me, too. I had a whole internal discussion about which scenario would be more stereotypically French…
