Japanese cities are so lovely.
I accept your experience as valid. However, I do see men and boys being collectively refered to as “males”. I propose that the disparity may be explained by the places we frequent. But I also agree that the “males” noun don’t seem to be used as often. This, coupled with how the “female” noun is used as a slur by misogynists, make it clear to me why women are offended by it, and it’s why I’ve stopped using it.
I think mysoginists just have a lot of spotlight on them, or are vocal. I hadn’t been aware of “female” being used as a slur before it was pointed out here on Lemmy. I think “female” as a noun is still used neutrally far more often than as a slur.
What about hookups though? I’d say there isn’t much human connection there, and certainly not friendship.
Stores should pay employees 30 minutes after closing time, or whatever is a realistic time it may take to serve the last client and close everything.
This is a common question in economics.
It’s called technological unemploymemt and it’s a type of structural unemployment.
Economists generally believe that this is temporary. Workers will take new jobs that are now available or learn new skills to do so.
An example is how most of the population were farmers, before the agricultural revolution ans the industrial revolution. Efficiency improvements to agriculture happened, and now there’s like only about 1% of the population in agriculture. Yet, most people are not unemployed.
There was also a time in England when a large part of the population were coal miners. Same story.
Each economic and technological improvement expands the economy, which creates new jobs.
There’s been an argument by some, Ray Kurzweil if I remember correctly, but others as well, that we will eventually reach a point where humans are obsolete. There was a time when we used horses as the main mode of land transportation. Now, this is very marginal, and we use horses for a few other things, but really there’s not that much use for them. Not as much as before. The same might happen to humans. Machines might become better than humans, for everything.
Another problem that might be happening is that the rate of technological change might be too fast for society to adapt, leaving us with an ever larger structural unemployment.
One of the solution that has been suggested is providing a basic income to everyone, so that losing your job isn’t as much of a big problem, and would leave you time to find another job or learn a new skill to do so.
Depends what.
Customer-facing work: you can stay open longer.
Office work: yeah, since productivity plummets, I don’t think it helps much, if at all.
We have a lot of dams, but I haven’t heard that we were pumping water into the reservoirs.
We also don’t have, like, fields of solar panels, as far as I know. I think it’s too cloudy here. But we have wind turbines, especially in coastal areas.
Don’t forget the music! Nightwish, Ensiferum, Finntroll, and many more…
Oh wow, I had no idea this existed. Awesome!
Coulnd’t we use solar to pump water into reservoirs, and then let the water flow through hydroelectrical dams when we need the electricity?
And it’s a real word. Neom is obviously not an eco-region lol
There are several recipes that call for mashed chickpeas. Especially sandwishes.
You can make burger patties with mashed beans or mashed chickpeas, and another ingredient that holds it together such as crumbled bread.
When you have cooked black beans, you can blend them, with onions, garlic, salt, and romarino, and use them as filling for soft maize tacos, with spicy sauce. I’ve also been meaning to try them as a dip for maize chips, haven’t done that yet.
There’s also something weird that I sometimes do, in that I’ve never heard of anyone else doing that or seen any recipe for that, it’s just something I do: I blend romano beans into a pizza sauce. I put a generous amount of sauce on my pizza, and lot of vegetables. I love my pizzas like this and it makes for a complete meal with protein.
We have a yellow lady in Montréal.
I much prefer the first. I’d say watch the first, any other are optional.
New friend: “hey, we live close, why don’t you come over?”
You: go full circle through the whole country to get there
Dictators are generally terribly ineffective. Read the Dictator’s Handbook.
Amazing, thanks for the thorough description!
