Using classic genre labels, would it not just be romance? Yaoi and yuri are special labels specifically because they’re “out of the norm”
Is there a Japanese equivalent word/term for either of these genres?

this implies sexual (which yaoi and yuri usually not necesarily imply), and doesn’t imply heterosexual
Yaoi and yuri at least used to denote explicit sex? Has that changed? Non-sexual was shounen ai and shoujo ai in Western fan parlance (Japanese terms are more varied).
Edit: a tongue in cheek meaning of “yaoi” was/is “yamete oshiri ga itai” (stop, my butt hurts)
