Yes, I’d call it “medium priority”, tho. In the sense that I personally am not itching to work on it but if someone else did I’d help them get started in the right direction and then leave them to it.
PieFed dev here - if you want to follow Mastodon accounts, I recommend Mbin.
About 20% of the content in piefed.socal comes from Mastodon but it’s through indirect means (a.gup.pe groups, mastodon users @mention-ing communities). Mastodon users can reply to PieFed posts and receive your replies to their comments.
I’m pretty sure the basic appearance is intentional. I love that aspect of it!
Moderators certainly got involved in some of the cross-posts of the earlier thread, at least a dozen comments were removed on beehaw and a couple people got banned from the awful.systems thread.
It seems as if the only way you’d ever say there is NO racism on Lemmy is if there was no need to moderate racist posts - if there were no racist people present. That’s a much higher bar than “have you SEEN racism”, which requires racist posts to be left unmoderated for a substantial amount of time so that many people can see them and then provide the “quotes and links” you are soliciting. It feels like you’ve shifted the goalposts a bit, now.
Reasons why racism on Lemmy is less of an issue:
You will need to block a bunch of people when you first join, or move to an instance that has already done that for you.
… or use a platform that automatically hides comments that get lots of downvotes. I looked in your posting history - the comments you remarked about being angry didn’t even show up for me.
… and filter out US politics & Israel politics. You’ll need an app/platform that lets you define filters, tho.
Ahh, The Economist, yes…
Check out the literature.cafe instance, people there will know a good community to post in.
Windows 2000 was the peak - rock solid with no visual fluff. XP was 2000 with a childish skin on it and it’s all downhill from there.

Wow that is amazingly elaborate!
US and friends regularly take their boats out for a drive, NK always reacts the same. It’s a pretty boring news article.

It is understandable that you didn’t find those communities, discoverability is a real issue with Lemmy. I have tried to solve this by curating communities into groups of Topics - https://piefed.social/topics
The only other country where divorce is illegal is Vatican City.
I would appreciate this mbfc content on smaller less well known sources but imo we can assume Reuters and other big names are already trusted.
Also this article is a simple reporting of unambiguous events that undoubtedly occurred so there’s really no need to check the source. It’s not an interpretation of a political situation.
Just trying to save you some time.
When I started working on PieFed I was all enthusiastic about the idea of moderation tools. But when it came time to actually code that functionality it was like pulling teeth. Just. Sooo. Boring. It took weeks longer than it should have, for that reason. This was really surprising to me because I’m deeply passionate about moderation and ‘gardening’ a community.
That’s the thing about open source, people just do the fun stuff. There’s always some fun stuff to do which distracts from the boring-but-necessary.
They’re not excessive subsidies. It’s USA and Europe that are not subsidising EVs enough.
Any country or car maker that does not get on board with decarbonisation of the transport sector needs to be shut down asap.
