That kind of content is harmful regardless of whether OP is using TikTok or not. TikTok is just another medium.
Because not everyone is obsessed with politics and there is actually a lot of cool non-political content to enjoy. Although during some periods it’s better to stay away from the main feed.
Define ‘weird political shit’. Because Mastodon is also full of weird political shit. The election years are unbearable.
I’m so old I’ve seen dozens of threads like this one.
Our brains don’t think in terms of statistics, we are very bad at numbers. That’s a scientific fact, see Daniel Kahneman’s “Thinking, Fast and Slow”. So to say that if 20% of the world prison population is located in the US then it’s normal to think about the US when you hear “solidarity confinement” is plain wrong. There’s no media bias like with school shootings either, you don’t read about US prisons in European media every week. Even the mainstream US media don’t talk about US prisons much. Somehow you fail to see that in the discussion about Danish and Swedish prisons one should probably consider Danish and Swedish prisons.
This is so satisfying to read lol. The USA-centrism is so annoying, especially prior their elections.
Given how much FSB and others love to torture men by anal rape, Russia should be at a high-risk alert.
You what?
If I want to see a movie so badly, I’d rather go to the cinema rather than watch a low-quality camrip.
I tried to find reddit on duckduckgo to answer this quesiton, but I didn’t get any results :(

Of course they did. Nobody wants to run outdated software.
I seed until the ratio is 2.0 which I think is fine for popular torrents. I keep seeding obscure stuff that I struggled to download myself, but that’s quite rare, so it doesn’t lead to ‘hoarding’.
I only download what I plan to consume shortly, then delete.
I think what we currently see is too much misinformation.
Because some music is not available on streaming platforms. Occasionally artists and labels decide to split their ways, and suddenly their older albums are gone. Over the years I started losing notable chunks of music I like from my playlists.
Should we do that though? I’m choosing between playing PS5 and configuring my home server. I’m not being paid for either of that. But skills I obtain while tinkering with the server actually help me with some tasks at work.
I somewhat doubt that a company counts illegal viewers and charges more for ads because of them. So the actual broadcaster probably gets nothing.
