Luckily he has electric equipment so it doesn’t make as much noise

Except for the days he decides to do woodworking too

I once experienced a storm where, for a very brief time, my front yard was experiencing a torrential downpour and my back yard was dry as a bone.

My house was not that big - maybe 1700-1800sq ft - and our lot size was less than a quarter acre. Blew my mind. (Obviously storms have edges. It was still weird.)

It’s ridiculous how much rebuilding takes, at least in the US, and how much racism and classism plays into it.

I went to NOLA like 5 years after Hurricane Katrina and most of the houses I saw in “certain” (poor) neighborhoods still had the spray paint on them from first responders. Also one of the (predominantly black) universities there I don’t think had fully rebuilt either at that point while the other (predominantly white) university had just gotten a new sports field.

I just can’t imagine being in a war torn place where much of the world hardly acknowledges you as a human and trying to rebuild your community.

It just blows my mind every day the cruelty in this world - and the fact that there are so many genocides happening simultaneously. I still remember when I was a small child finding out that WW2 did not hold the only genocide the world had ever or would ever see. I still can’t quite wrap my head around it.

Yeah. On my personal pages I either unfollowed or deleted so many people so I don’t have to deal with it. On places like lemmy it’s not worth the energy.

Sometimes I can’t help myself though. I was taught to stand up for myself and for other people as well so it’s hard for me to sit back on certain conversations. Somehow this week I actually changed someone’s mind (Not on lemmy). It’s confusing when that happens lol

Years later, I was a child waiting for Columbia to land when all of the adults started acting weird…then we found out. But i didn’t quite understand at first. I remember wondering how they landed in Houston when they were planning on Florida. I was smart enough to know that that wasn’t really an option but not enough to put it together until later.
