In practice, it would be the end of NATO.
Mary Poppins is now played by Anthony Hopkins
There are domains you can register privately, if that’s a concern.
The main advantage is not having an admin block you from talking to certain people by defederating the instance they use.
This guy is being reasonable, get the pitchforks!
Nothing is private on the fediverse, and Mastodon’s bodge only gives the illusion of privacy. There should be zero expectation that any fediverse software will follow their non-standard extensions.
Yes, I touch type so use it whenever I capitalise a letter typed by the left hand.
Some forum software is starting to support activitypub with plugins. If they add the plugin then you can follow and interact with the forum from Lemmy. The best option for everyone is to start pestering forum admins to add those plugins so they get users and Lemmy gets more content.
Long term creating migration scripts for popular forum software like phpBB, so content, users, etc, can be moved to a custom Lemmy instance would be an option.
Helium was interesting, but they locked it down so you can only use their proprietary hardware for access points, it seems kinda scammy.
IPFS is used by several archive projects like Anna’s archive and libgen.
Meshtastic is a distributed local mesh network for text messaging.
They’d probably melt it down instead, just to avoid giving it back.
I’ll add that every other self driving car company has a pretty good safety record, specifically because they do use LIDAR and RADAR so they can see better than humans.
Or a badly painted sign that says “Free charging”
One way we train AI models to “align” them is to create a lot of different ones, and then see how they perform on various tests.
Ones that answer those tests correctly are saved and used to create the next generation of models, those that answer incorrectly are deleted.
What if this is all an AI alignment test that’s some alien kid’s AI homework that got a C-?
One of the advantages of votes being public is that it keeps instance owners honest and, perhaps more importantly, means they know other instance owners are honest.
If they weren’t public it would be easy to modify your lemmy instance to send 10 votes with fake hashes for every real vote. There would be constant accusations of brigading and faking votes.
Headline is kind of clickbait
The bill also allows for the flying of a “historic version of a flag … that is temporarily displayed for educational purposes,”
“There are instances where in classrooms, you have curriculum that is needed to use flags such as World War II, Civil War,” he said. “You may have a Nazi flag. You may have a Confederate flag, and so you are allowed to display those flags… as part of the curriculum, and that is okay.”
The law is still dumb for wanting to ban the pride flag.
It’s possibly classed as fair use https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authors_Guild,_Inc._v._Google,_Inc.
Meta also allegedly modified settings “so that the smallest amount of seeding possible could occur,”
Big tech taking without giving back to the community once again.
I just asked chatGPT to transcribe it and it said
The handwritten text in the image says:
“Dimer stabilization free energies were also determined from thermodynamic integration (TI, see methods), which provide a direct validation of the MM-GBSA results.”

There was a post on HN recently about using LLMs for OCR. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42952605
I hate to be “that guy” but this almost certainly depends on the specific fertilisers and insecticides used.
What’s the weather like?
