  • To piggyback on another comment. Massage. I’m a massage therapist who sees clients with disk issues all the time.

99% of the time it’s because of shortened hip flexors (your psoas attached to your bottom vertebrae and as it shortens, is too tight to let your spine stretch which then just crushes your disks) due to both extended time in a seated position as well as a weak core. Stretch, get a massage, find a PT to help with chronic back pain. Start doing crunches before bed.

Also drink more water. Only kinda related but basically everyone should be drinking more water.

  • For me, I don’t see my birth as good. If I think about my parents lives, any happy moment with me can just as easy have been a happy moment for them for a different reason. Then from there I’ve just been a hefty financial and emotional burden. Same goes for other family members. I don’t really have any close friends so I don’t think I’m having much impact there. My job isn’t some massive boon to society. My partner is the only person I think might be worse off, but even then I still think she could be doing better.

I know dying now would definitely hurt everyone, so I’m not suicidal. But when I’m getting hit hard with those negative thoughts, they’re almost always wishing I just hadn’t been born.

  • Considering women can and do use vastly different equipment on average (I think it’s toxic masculinity that makes it so guys struggle with the “don’t kill the ball” idea and often need more rigid shafts on their clubs), I think you’re right to clarify and female golfer sounds a thousand times better than woman golfer.

That said, if you aren’t going the gift card route, mix golf and something else and get her a golf towel (has a little ring to attach it to your bag) with some character she likes or something
