Sure I used to do that with Guinness Stout and Guinness Blonde. I liked how the flavors changed when you got to the bottom. Then they started making the blonde in the US and it turned in to a undrinkable IPA. I could no longer get the real thing. It went from a perfect complement to the stout to a bitter sir hops alot. It was nothing like the real thing(from Dublin) and I quit drinking them.

It depends on their policies. Some ISPs allow you to purchase your own router. Some don’t. As long as their device supports bridging or in some cases DMZ you can just bypass their device to use your own. That is what I did when I switched to AT&Fee fiber.

I use pfsense as my router os and run pfblockerng for my filter. Anytime I have some problem I can log in to the router and look at what is being blocked and if necessary whitelist the entry that is being blocked.

I also redirect all dns to my router at the firewall and block dns over https. This means that all dns no matter the settings on the client machine are redirected to the router. Its not fool proof but so far so good.

My dad heard something from some random person about burn in and as a result was convinced every time I turned on a console it was going to ruin the TV. He had all kinds of weird bit of false knowledge gleaned from listening to random strangers. Somehow their unsubstantiated claims about how the world works had more weight than my demonstrated ability to make things work. He would never run the AC in the car on max. Thinking it made the compressor work harder not realizing that max just closed the outside vent on the car. He hated for me to succeed and enjoyed every mistake I ever made.

I’m pretty sure he was talking about burning a after image in the screen. My parents were similarly unhinged when the atari 2600 came out. Burn in on old CRT monitors take a really long time. Much longer than it did for TV’s in the 60’s and 70’s.
