I’m a leftist dude living in one of the most leftist cities in a generally leftist and progressive country (although partly less so at the moment…) so generally have no issues with different political views and morals, most people are nice.

I matched with a girl on a dating app only for vegans because I was tired of having to ask about it, deal with having an omnivore partner and of having idiots match with me only to be assholes towards me from mentioning it in my bio.
We texted for about a week and got along super well, she was very into me and was the first to ask for a date so we set one up.
The date started great too, we really clicked and I thought she was one of the most beautiful humans I’d ever seen. Then as we’re about to finish our food and pay the bill she tells me that I need to pay for it, I ask why (I happily would have, but was just interested in the reason) and she tells me that since I’m male I need to “atone” for all the bad shit men has done to women throughout human history… I thought she was joking but she really wasn’t. I was so floored that I didn’t know what to say so I just said nothing, I paid for my food and just left.
I wrote with her a few times after that out of morbid curiosity and asked more about her political views etc. and it wasn’t good. She was not a feminist in my view, she was a man-hater and a militant extreme leftist with many morally fucked up views.

I’m just glad I found this out on the first date and dodged a bullet.

It definitely applies to most Americans here too. Almost anything that’s exclusively US is posted like nothing else exists. Both thread and comments are written like they aren’t aware the rest of the world exists. It’s VERY prevalent here just like anywhere else online, and it’s infuriating for everyone outside the US.

In my experience the opposite happens more often, you expect at least some major news but nothing of note happened and you have no notifications from people trying to get ahold of you etc. so you just feel weirdly empty because you spend so much time and effort keeping up with the world, friends and family normally.

A dude that has been banned from all music festivals in Sweden and many others in neighbouring countries because he covers himself with shit and bathes in urinals. He has also smeared shit all over the walls in multiple places, including one of the ferries here. I worked at an underground club for a few years around 2005 and he “painted” the walls of one of our toilets one time. He never drinks or does drugs apparently, he’s just fucked up. Been well-known since the 90s…

I’m a Swede too and don’t get anxious at all. It’s very much not a common thing here, or anywhere in the world. It’s more common in some places (like the US) but that doesn’t make it common enough to be a thing to constantly worry about. Let’s take the event in this thread as an example, there have been thousands of days at that specific place where nothing happened, and the vast majority of people there weren’t even close enough to be in harm’s way. And then we have the millions of places like this all over the world where nothing happened today. The chance of you being at the specific place and time, close enough to be in harm’s way is extremely low. I’m in no way saying stuff like this isn’t a problem or should be ignored, just that it’s completely irrational to have any fear about it no matter where you live.

The best way to play any switch game is via emulation. It’s pretty funny IMO.

I live in a very politically left and hippie part of my city, and my city is one of the most left-leaning and hippie in my country, and my country is very left and hippie compared to a lot of the world.

And I’m very politically left-leaning and hippie. I often get compliments about my clothes and style, which is mainly 60s-70s hippie-ish and when people ask where I’m from I usually say “I think you can guess” and they mostly get it right.

I love to make fun of myself in this way, being fully aware of what stereotypes you a closest to and owning it. I’m proud of my morals, ethics, choices and tastes.
