Bluesky isn’t a terrible Twitter alternative, but it’s not federated. Mastodon is fine, but I’ve had a much harder time staying engaged there.

End of life care the distant relative swoops in and says “we want to do everything possible to keep them alive” keeping the patient on life support until their organs give out.
Nearly 20 years of watching someone else do that job, no thanks. Takes a special person to deal with all of that. Thanks for taking one for the team.
It may not be hating to work with patients, but the kind of work with the patients. A lot of people have no idea how much booty wiping and baths are required when you’re a nurse taking care of really sick patients. There’s also the “daughter from California” issue. There is a lot of literal and figurative shit healthcare providers have to put up with. Some people are in it because the paychecks are really pretty solid.
I was at a hardware store yesterday, locally owned. I didn’t look at the hours before I walked in but they started turning off lights within a few minutes of me walking in, so I walked out without buying anything and went to a big box store. I want to support the little guys, and I respect the time of the workers, but at some point I need to get the stuff I need and my hours at work to align exactly with the hours of the little guys. 🤷
That’s it folks, they got the big boss. Wrap it up and let’s go back to spending hundreds of dollars a month across dozens of platforms to not own any of the media we consume.
There’s a guy that has put his journey up on LinkedIn, I’m also not much of a public speaker.
I dropped out of college with 30 hours to go, worked a job in construction that was more or less a go-for job and I wasn’t very good at it. I had a friend who did EEGs and needed another tech. I worked at $30/hr doing EEGs. Studied my ass off and got registered, studied more and got a second registry. That enabled me to make $48/hr which is my starting pay adjusted for inflation. Long story short, I should have gone into computer science or finance and been rich. Neurodiagnostics is rewarding in it’s own way, but there is better money out there that isn’t going to make you work your ass off and claw your way back to where you started.
I’d buy the assets of the wealthy and redistribute it to the poor.
Yeah, I like to eat meat, but I leave the vegetarians and vegans alone. Why pick a fight?
Why can’t Helen Keller drive? She’s dead
Honestly not a terrible decision. It sounds like even if he went ahead and did the surgery to try to salvage the finger it might not have given him full function of that digit. Why keep the finger if it’s not even going to be usable?
A stupid question is something like “why can’t we just follow the teachings of Ayn Rand and live in a libertarian utopia?” because everyone with a brain knows she is just a bad romance writer without a grip on reality and a basic understanding of how government is necessary to do things like safely build a skyscraper or acquire enough continuous land for a railroad. We don’t want stupid questions like that because obnoxious Ayn Rand followers will start spouting off nonsense.
Or when they fly into your ear and start laying eggs and the eggs hatch and all you can hear is the sound of you being eaten alive from the inside.
Needs to be a song
You know damn well how NSFW is applied on the internet.
I used to be against the draft or conscription, but someone made the argument that people are far less war hungry when they or their loved ones might end up on the front lines. In that case, I’m all for it as long as the rich, politically connected, and otherwise privileged are treated like the rest of us. Otherwise the next best option is an all volunteer military.
Just looking at the production process of methanol vs ethanol it’s way more likely that some asshole found some industrial methanol and stole it and used it to boost the potency of their product to boost their profit. Making enough methanol on a homebrew level to be dangerous is actually pretty tricky to do.
$80,000 sounds like a steal for what happened.
