How does a law explicitly interfering with first amendment rights not get immediately struck down as unconstitutional? Limiting free speech is not even an unintended theoretical side effect of the bill; it’s the expressed purpose.

Why? The company shouldn’t have to eat the cost just because you decide after the fact that you don’t actually want/need the item. The company should be liable for warranty claims, but not simple returns.

Except there’s plenty of issue. Do you think none of those people, whom you already know are inconsiderate, are going to lie about their weight? Hell, they don’t even have to be knowingly lying, their scale at home could just be wrong. Now you have to deal with price adjustments at the gate, and you know people are going to argue with the attendants about that.

You don’t fly much, do you? Getting through check in is a pain in the ass enough as it is, and now you want to add a weigh in and price adjustment step for every person onto that?

Being overweight isn’t the only source of weight variation. If a 6’4" man weighs the same as a healthy 5’0" woman, he’s probably dying.

Any airline that tried this would immediately get sued in just about every country that has any sort of discrimination laws, and the airline would lose ten times out of ten.

There’s nothing more true than Occam’s razor. And stupid is by definition simple.

Unfortunately, when you apply Occam’s razor along with the second law of thermodynamics to politics, you end up with the current mess.

It’s an HBO political-comedy talk show. As far as I know, that’s a category of 2. It doesn’t take a conspiracy to see how one would be constantly in the suggestions of the other.

I wouldn’t even credit them with that much thought. It’s far more likely that it’s simply “you watched late-night political comedy talk show, so here’s another late night political “comedy” talk show.”
