I never stopped doing organizing work since Trump 1, during the Biden regime a lot of people went back to brunch, it was harder to find volunteers. Now they’re all back and ready to be mad at the government and do work.

I think the explanation is simply that Lemmy’s users are all contrarians, or else they would be using Reddit. Frequently they are of the international leftist sort due to the founder effect.

You also get pretty aggressively censored/banned for expressing opposition to US foreign policy on reddit. For example hexbear is on here and has the culture it has because it was originally a lifeboat for a leftist subreddit that got banned.

It really takes living in America to appreciate how necessary anti-american sentiment is. Regime change begins at home.

I believe they forked from Lemmy before federation existed close to 4 years ago, added things like custom emojis and then only re-merged after federation was implemented then turned it on.

So marginalized groups have to be careful not to offend your sensibilities when arguing for their existence, got it. Honestly par for the course with centrists.
