Family of ducks crossing Perth freeway cause peak-hour pile up

Six cars are caught in a pile-up as a family of ducks attempts to cross busy Kwinana Freeway during the morning peak hour in Perth.

It’s unclear how the ducks got onto the freeway, which is guarded by a concrete barrier.

It is the second day in a row ducks have caused peak hour chaos in the same spot on the freeway.

    Not stopping, fully stopped. In the middle of a highway. While they should have been observant for dangerous situations, she was the one who created the situation in the first place. Them being at fault does not preclude her from being at fault as well.

      This always sparks debate, and I can see why.

      There are a million reasons you might need to stop. That’s why highways are designed with specific speed limits, so you have enough time to see hazards and come to a full stop if necessary. If you’re not prepared to stop unexpectedly, then you are a menace to society.

      But it’s also dangerous to stop. That’s why most places have laws against stopping (or even going too far below the speed limit) unnecessarily. It’s a hazard.

      Neither is an excuse for the other.

      Don’t you have traffic jams on highways? Including some that involve cars stopping completely?

      I mean the reason you can do 130 kmh on a highway is because you can see like a kilometer forward and stop safely from that speed.
