That’s just the smoke monster from Lost. It’s just trying to live a normal life outside of Hollywood. It’s only nefarious if you were nefarious in another life… or whatever the plot was on Lost.
The popular explanation was it was purgatory. And the finale church scene was their “made it to heaven”. But, yeah, I remember them saying “nothing’s set in stone”. That’s JJ Abram thing – storyline optional.
Yes but in the beginning in the podcast the purgatory theory already came up and they were like “noooo that’s not what we’re doing”.
And yes I don’t like Abrams stuff much for that reason. At least he’s got the right name, his work is really like a main battle tank, it’s all about the explosions and brute force, not finesse.

Was there a plot? I’m pretty sure they said they were just making it all up as they went along. Thats why the story was so disjointed at the end.
