why do some people (when not speaking french or not a french speaker) put a space after an exclamation or question mark?

this feels stupid, but i’m curious. Those who fo so, is it stylistic choice? is it because you actually do speak french? is it because your language does the same thing?

(i know a polish speaker who does that)

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.
