The president blamed foreign-made movies for the American film industry's "very fast death".

He blamed a “concerted effort” by other countries that offer incentives to attract filmmakers and studios, which he described as a “National Security threat”.

“WE WANT MOVIES MADE IN AMERICA, AGAIN!”

US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick responded to the announcement, saying “We’re on it”.

This is an actual thing. I figured it was made up, but no, Trump is serious. :)

    Yeah having terroriffs on something that is easy to pirate is really gonna force them to make these foreign films in the US. What’s next, putting tariffs on streaming services? “Those bits must be made in America!”
