You’re assuming that Republicans are consistent with their BS. They are not.

Many, if not most, MAGA voters suffer from extreme cognitive dissonance and they’re trained to not think about it.

I don’t really worry about what Republicans think. What are they going to do, vote more? They already think dems are communist blah blah blah, I don’t think anything dems do is suddenly going to activate an even more outraged GOP base. Everyone else though, they will see the hypocrisy for what it is and you might even get some people’s attention that you didn’t have before.

They wouldn’t care about the hypocrisy. The Republican party generally isn’t intellectually honest, and their supporters don’t pressure them to be.

    Doesn’t matter.

Democrats will always be held to an unattainably high standard while Republicans are held to literally none.

Trump supporters unironically walked around wearing “I’m voting for the felon” merchandise. They support criminals because they admire criminals, as long as the criminals are on their team.

Their hypocrisy knows no bounds, so they will look you straight in the eye and say a democrat is the anti-christ for attempting a fake electors scheme, despite their guy having done so himself.

None of this matters. Because Americans don’t care. Because Americans aren’t responsible democratic citizens. Which is why we’re experiencing a decline we won’t be crawling out of anytime soon.

    Sure, and?

Remember when they had a hissy fit about a Supreme Court nomination too close to an election, refused to fill and then decided the opposite was true if trump was in charge?

I think overall there is no pathway to seating kamala and it would just be a waste of time. At the same time, though, what a way to send a message. I think if the democrats understood how deep under water they were it would be the most beautiful death throw.

Ehhh, I think it sends a message to any Independent or wavering trump voter that “hey, 'member all the threat to democracy stuff we talked about? Yeah, just kidding!”

Sucks to be the adult party but such is life.

You’re not being the adult. The adult gets their hands dirty when it’s time to get their hands dirty. Who watches the watchers? The answer isn’t crime fighting vigilantes. It’s other watchers.

Decorum. Rules. Norms. Can and will all be ignored. The Republicans will use every facet of their power and the democrats will pray to the gods of civility that the Republicans stop.

This time is different, though. This time they said they will not freely cede power. I think you will find it makes a big differnce.

Yeah, it signals to every both sider that they were right all along, and all the people they’ve been prosthelytizing to might actually start believing them.

If you want to be on the side of democracy, you don’t just decide to stop being democratic unless you’ve given up.

You’re not going to solve anything by playing by their rules, you’re only going to galvanize them. They are the party of “government doesn’t work”, doing this just gives them more ammo.

The government doesn’t work if one side can break the law and walk away scott free and if the other side does the same exact thing they have consequences. What’s there left to argue at that point?
