Someone I know is slightly mentally challenged, always had trouble at school, but is super precise and methodical. They are now a very valued employee at a forensics lab, doing something that most people are not capable of.
One of my friends is mechanical engineering and he told me he did shit in high school. He pretty much aces every math and physics exam with very minimal studying.
The two things are probably related. I’m the same way. You learn to compensate for a bad memory, for bad visualization techniques, for bad math skills, by adhering to certain routines and rules of thumb. Most people can easily remember, say, times tables. If you’re a dumbass, though, you’ll probably be forced to use some sort of mneumonic device or rule of thumb if you want to actually memorize them. Alternatively, you might just get really fast at going through every step to get the correct answer, kinda depends.

A super precise and methodical dumbass makes a very good data/sample collector IMO. I’m glad it worked out well for your acquaintance.
Also I think nearly anybody can provide value / is valuable to society. If all of us were super geniuses society would collapse.
They also make great machinists.
You wouldn’t ask a fish to climb a tree… school is very seldom a place for intelligent people.

They’re a lab animal, aren’t they

And here I am just running on a giant wire wheel 😞
