I conveniently was given a Synology ds412 by Amazon many years ago (and being as I had just been fired from the phone job with them due to a “mistake” in hiring me, I figured I’d keep it. Also learned that when you work security, don’t piss off secretaries while doing the job, even as a contractor). I still use it. Not powerful, but it serves up most video alright, and is ok as a download space.

Also don’t forget to look at your insulation around your lines outside each year. They need replacing sometimes. If you can feel cold, you need a new one. I go to an HVAC supplier every year and buy this green can of amazing chemicals. Spray the fins, let sit for about 15min, then spray off with a hose. Gleaming, shiny metal.

Wonder if it could build around laptop mobos… I threw together a design around my daughter’s broken laptop (screen) with Tinkercad and cut it using a laser engraver, but it bugs me it has an open gap around the ports (I am not that talented with a caliper, and I’m a little lazy)

I have cameras everywhere now, so it helps, but at night it’s hard to make out faces, even with nightmode on. Scariest thing happened near here when I was a kid. We came home to blood smeared on our storm door with a hand print on the inside door, red splotches all over the porch. We found out someone had a car accident and tried to het help but no one was home. Neighbors said their leg was messed up in odd angles and were scratched all to hell but the emts thought they’d be fine. I felt bad as a kid for thinking “glad I wasn’t home…” but they had no one to get help until the neighbors finally saw them.

Well, knocks after midnight I tend to bring a firearm just in case… I also live in the sticks so late night visitors are very uncommon. Usually it’s a car accident that I didn’t hear (which is weird, most of them fly through here and make sound like rolling thunder into the ditch or tree)

I love Libby but my county library is about to get defunded by 90% which means digital books are gonna be scarce.

I use Smart Audiobook Player. Only downside is renaming .m4b files to .m4a.
