What distro are you using? JF recommends Ubuntu.
FWIW, I found TechHut’s Jellyfin YouTube tutorials super easy to follow when I was just starting out. He also has a video on FStab which you might eventually find handy. I haven’t watched this stuff in long time though so it might be outdated. https://www.youtube.com/c/TechHutHD
i literally have to spell everything out
Yes. You do. That’s just the way it goes.
It doesn’t matter if you’re doing OSS or looking for venture capital, you need to sell your project/product to users. In an OSS project, prospective users need to understand why they should invest their time. You always need an elevator pitch or one liner. In github, the elevator pitch is the “About” section on the right hand side of the page (on desktop).
If you want to see what a good sales job looks like for Open Source, check out hoarder. It’s one of the best I’ve seen and certainly one of the main reasons it has received over 13 thousand stars in about one year.
Most of us started with the TRaSH Guides.
Also it’s not Linux or Windows; it’s Docker (which works on both Linux and Windows).
Also check out YouTube. There are a lot of great tutorials on there.
You can use yt-dlp to download just the audio stream. After you install it, open your terminal and run:
yt-dlp -x --audio-format mp3 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLHW_tnxUzXEbQqtEVK0EyvYKM2yC4fsr

Better to use something like ultra.cc. Their Tank Streaming or App Vault plans are what you should look at.
Mentioning Five Filters because no one has mentioned it yet. It will pull the full text of the articles and present them to you in your RSS reader (or FreshRSS) so you don’t have to navigate to a browser to read the article. Everything takes place in your native RSS app. I use it as a docker container. Actually, I create a stack with FreshRSS and Five Filters in the stack.
Five Filters has a paid service, but they also have a free docker app for people who want to self-host. https://github.com/heussd/fivefilters-full-text-rss-docker
I’m still searching for a good iOS reader app for FreshRSS.
I couldn’t get this to work with FreshRSS. Do you know how to integrate it with the FreshRSS api?
I’m an American. Native English speaker. The subtitles are 10/10 for The Bureau. It just depends on if your friends like to watch shows that are subtitled.
Question about browsers: Do you have a preference of Firefox, Fennec or Iceraven?
Thanks for the tip about Web Archives. I’ll put that on for sure. Was considering sideloading Bypass Paywalls Clean and they mentioned Iceraven, which I had never heard of.
Edit: BPC link goes to a *.ru
TLD. Link is also on the BPC wikipedia page. They previously got booted from gitlab and github.
The apps are different on iOS bc of apple’s walled garden. For example, NewPipe (in the other comment) is a music app on iOS and I didn’t know about it before. The browser is locked to Safari or skins of safari, so extensions are pretty limited. Graphene gives a lot more options so I’m looking for those RE: piracy.
The Anglos prefer muffins with nooks. Saxons like ones with crannies. Anglo-Saxons prefer English muffins which have both nooks and crannies.
Rather than focusing on where to look, better to focus on how to download. Automation is your friend. There is software (like the *arrs) which automate the downloading of content from multiple locations online.
If only there was a megathread about piracy. Oh wait, here it is.
I’ve never had a problem with makemkv. I use it for everything. Even paid for a license lol.

The Scooba? I was thinking about getting one of those. How do you like it?
Please don’t turn this community into a meme dumping ground. You can go to r/piracy for that.
