  • I’m not fully familiar with the overheads associated with all things going on on a chipset, but it’s not unreasonable to think that this workload, plus whatever the chipset has to do (hardware management tasks mostly), as well as the CPU’s other tasks on similar interfaces that might saturate the IO die/controller, would influence this.

B350 isn’t a very fast chipset to begin with, and I’m willing to bet the CPU in such a motherboard isn’t exactly current-gen either. Are you sure you’re even running at PCIe 3.0 speeds too? There are 2.0 only CPUs available for AM4.

  • The basic premise is that they are itching so bad to be persecuted, but are lower middle class white people. They look at their lives and see that the thing oppressing them the most is the state, but since they’re law-abiding citizens who believe fully that if you act lawfully you can get what you want, there must be a lawful way to get out of state oppression.

The next step is to construct an arbitrary system of belief that magically explains your view of the world is correct, and Christianity has already done the work of frying their brain into thinking this is reasonable.

Note that at no point do they even consider that there should be no reason the oppressive state (whether that is true or not is irrelevant) doesn’t simply continue to opress them during their attempt at liberation, because the state oppressing someone is something that happens to people who do unlawful things, and they’re not doing anything unlawful, according to their belief system.

  • It is sadly no longer possible. The reason is simple: if your goal is to make a real review site, either you’re taking in money for reviews, or someone else is and posting it to your site. The insurmountable costs associated with not doing either means every site out there is going to be garbage.

If you’re not yet into very good mechanical keyboards, my personal suggestion is to go shopping on AliExpress with $40 and spend half of it on a cheap mechanical (my daily driver is a 17€ skylion) and the other half on a set of key caps.

Sure it’s not gonna be great, but unless you’re accustomed to very high end boards, it’ll suit you just fine without breaking the bank and it’ll still better than anything razer has produced ever. If you have the time for it, you could also oil the switches when you get the board, that usually has a very good effect on feel.

  • Imo immutable distros are what’s paving the future. Personally I’m a debian fangirl, but if you want to learn something new then I’d take a look towards these, otherwise you’re essentially just configuring all the things the same ways as before, which is fine but I think we’re moving away from this.

Your laptop will be fine, although it has a Nvidia graphics card so that’s always a dice roll. You probably will have problems with brightness control and sleep mode.

For your privacy goal, honestly just using a properly configured firefox on any Linux is fine. You’re already using linux, and for the rest your browser really shouldn’t leak that much info, so it’s up to the normal avenues of blocking trackers etc.

  • Seeing your other comments on this post, I urge you to think twice about embarking on whatever it is you’re about to attempt, because it is clear you have no idea what’s in store for you. I really don’t mean it as a demeaning thing, what you’re describing is hard.

I suggest looking into a postgres tutorial first and foremost, it will teach you the basics of DBMS and how to use SQL, and when you understand that and what the database does for the applications you’re used to, revisit this project. Being a database administrator is a literal full time job in the enterprise world, and for good reason, and you don’t sound like you know enough about it to go in guns blazing.
