Pig butchering?
Pig butchering?
Yes I think we are in agreement.
Lol deception aside, good on anon opponent for pivoting from mildly toxic to totally wholesome on a dime.
I was just winging it and it worked out!
I see your point. If you view the cells as separate contexts, then it would be necessary to specify that “the substitution” is the thing that didn’t work out.
Behavior | Reasonableneses |
|----------|-----------------------------------| | Substituting applesauce | 8/10 | | One-starring the recipe because it didn’t work out | 0/10 |
I don’t understand the question.
Linux.
But I don’t understand the question.
Yeah, that’s accurate-- The permit has nothing to do with speech, it has to do with use of public space. Where I’m from, the police will come and block off streets and manage traffic to keep demonstrators safe. Without the permit, everyone would still be allowed to say more or less whatever they wanted, but the logistics of the gathering could create a hazard, and that’s just a gray area that everyone is just better off avoiding.
Ah, they must have interpreted it as “no stupid questions allowed,” instead of “there are no stupid questions.”
Does ml auto-censor posts for mildly spicy language or something?
“Mental safety net” is a perfect way to put it. You don’t have to keep constantly resurfacing the same thoughts over and over so as to not forget them.
Yeah, it can be super simple. Better if it is, really.
Surprised nobody has mentioned it yet, but… If you’re trying to hold your unfinished work in your head, then it’ll hound you whenever you aren’t working. So get it out of your head. Write it down.
Just mind dump into a text file or email to yourself or calendar event (for Monday morning) or sticky note or whatever works for you. Get down everything you can think of that’ll need your attention the next time you’re working.
Then, forget about it. Now that you have it captured somewhere, you can stop thinking about it until Monday morning or whatever. If you didn’t capture it, your brain won’t let you stop thinking about it. But now, present you knows that past you has teed things up for future you, so there’s no need to remain preoccupied.
You’ll know right away if this approach is right for you. If you feel a sense of relief after getting your mind dump out, then you’re onto something.
I will check him out, thanks!
Agree. I mean I dunno if I’d be able to say no to $100 million even if I was already wealthy, so I don’t want to make it too black-and-white… But it definitely did harm, and I think it’s fair to describe it as selling out.
Who’s your favorite podcast? They sound rad.
Yeah, it’s much better for everyone except the rent-seeking company… And it isn’t even bad for the rent-seeker, they’re just deprived of the gains they would obtain from harming the ecosystem by fragmenting it.
If those Joe Rogan fans could read, they would be very upset right now!
EDIT: Oh you know what? I just fact-checked myself and apparently that podcast is no longer Spotify-exclusive as of very recently. I hope you enjoyed the joke anyway.
I agree with you in general, but in my industry, there are still lots of companies that buck this trend. Employers that pay competitively but have shitty toxic environments, and scrappy startups where the pay sucks but the vibe is great.
Still, the advice to not think of it as a trade-off intrinsic to companies is solid. You deserve good vibes and good pay from the same job.
“birth/berth”
They call it that as a trick to subject babies to the regulatory structures that govern ships, which essentially says that the government can commandeer you whenever they deem necessary. Oh you think you have rights? Well in the eyes of the law, you’re just another skiff with a bad attitude.
“Legitimate interest” is a concept from GDPR, which is the EU’s major legislation around digital rights. “Legitimate interest” is an extremely soft concept that basically says “a company must have some reason that is not obviously bullshit to process your data.” That includes advertising. “We need to know your age, gender and city so we can decide what ads to show you” is considered “legitimate interest.” See? Soft.
What it doesn’t cover is “We just think it’s desirable to accumulate as much data as we can about you for no particular reason and maybe we can just sell it one day, idk.” That would not be considered “legitimate interest.” Similarly, asking for e.g. a user’s phone number but having no particular explanation for why you need it would not be “legitimate interest.”
So when you see “legitimate interest” cookies as a category, you can interpret that as “cookies that have some purpose-- including advertising-- as opposed to literally no purpose other than superstitious data hoarding.” Block them.
