Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky. It and its sequel Children of Ruin both explore what it means to be a person and makes you feel empathy for “the other”, beings that get more and more alien as the story moves on. Compared to most of what others mention here it is rather new. But it will become a cult classic, I am certain of that.

Knife. You maybe don’t need the ultra deluxe Japanese kitchen knives from the future. But a set of good, sharp knives will be a godsend if you plan to cook a lot.

Hiking gear. Especially the boots have to be of good quality. But breathable clothing (including socks) will also make a big difference when you go on a long trip.

Might be a no-brainer for some, but: meat. If you plan to make some steak, choosing a properly marbled piece of meat is as important as how you cook it. Will be exorbitantly more expensive than the discount meat, tho. But trust me, it will be worth it.

Girlfriend will drive to me directly after work on Saturday. Which means she will go to bed as soon as she arrives. I want to cook something nice for her while she sleeps. Just don’t know what to make. Have to find something that fits the warm weather.

Sunday she will prepare some snacks and a couple of friends will come over. We’re gonna play some commander. Really looking forward to finally see Ms. Bumbleflower in action.

Like others already pointed out, it’s not about the size per se. It’s about the small odd communities of specific interest that we miss. These usually only thrive with numbers.

Then again, I used Lemmy for over a year and didn’t get a single death threat. I went back to check my Reddit account and had two in my inbox, I didn’t use the site since the exodus. Soooooooo, yeah. You win some you loose some.

I once saw him being an utter piece of shit. A Bethesda writer got harassed on Twitter for being a writer on Fallout 4. Long story short, some jackass manchild on Reddit shitposted something utterly wrong and it made sense to other menchildren and they attacked said guy which hurt him a lot. So this assmold guy made fun of him, calling him pathetic and acting like being hurt is something disgusting. And it dragged on forever.

He is a piece of shit. So are his viewers for still watching his stuff.

Don’t know if he is alt right tho. But it doesn’t matter. Shit nonetheless.
