I have in fact encountered a bear in the wild, a mama bear with her cub. They weren’t interested in me, just crossing my path trying to get to the river. I stopped walking and started talking so they’d know I was there. They went on their way, I waited a little bit to make sure they weren’t coming back, and then I went on mine.

A viewpoint from someone who would choose the bear:: I don’t think all men are by default violent sexual predators. It’s much more about the fear that we won’t be believed.

Nobody questions whether you wanted to be attacked by a bear. Nobody makes the case that the bear just made a mistake and we don’t want to ruin his future. Nobody suggests that you lead the bear on then changed your mind. It behooves us to be wary of being vulnerable with men until we have more information about the specific man we’re engaging with because of things go sideways there’s a good chance we’ll be blamed.

The attacks on transgender people will spread to the rest of the LGBTQ community, then the disabled, then immigrants, then Jewish people, and so on. Because first they came for the transgender people and we didn’t speak out.

I think it’s already done spread, this is not a “in the next ten years” situation. They’re speedrunning it.

You can always revise your identity

Because at the end of the day, they’re all on Reddit. So when reddit says “you’ll get banned for upvoting content that promotes violence [against the oligarchs],” you can’t just make another subreddit because they’ll shut that one down too.

If the admin of lemmy.world says “you’ll get banned for upvoting content that promotes violence [against the oligarchs],” then you can say okay and make luigimangione@otherlemmyinstance.com. People on Lemmy.world can still access the new site, or even leave Lemmy.world entirely if they decide they’re not down with the admin. But they can still access all of the other federated communities they were subscribed to rather than having to quit Lemmy overall.

I think this is what confuses me, like, how? If Lemmy is like reddit and Mastadon is like Twitter how do they talk to each other. Do you follow someone on Mastadon via lemmy and then their “tweets” just show up on your front page?

This shit brought me back to trying to get into Lemmy. I’m sure this is the straw for others too. May reddit enjoy it’s diggification.
