Just saying, but swiss privacy laws are a huge marketing hoax and amongst the worst in Europe.

Interesting system. Which country does it that way?
Because then people who urgently need money do everything to get that money.
E.g. lie in that questionnaire. And you know who needs a lot of money? Intravenous drug users. Who tend to share needles. And have a higher risk of high risk sexual behaviour (both from prostitution itself but also rape, infections in their mucosal areas, etc)
Actually COVID is one of the most used tests they do, at least around here. But you can do things like drug use, cancer epidemiology (for some cancers), etc. as well - and that is incredibly helpful from a public health point of view.
Because it’s just like with Covid - we can’t get proper data from patient sided tests because we can’t test everyone. And even if we could, not everyone would.
But everybody poops/pees. And guys like OP interpolate from that.
As someone who is doing disaster response consulting for healthcare and public health: I fucking love you guys. You make my job sooo much easier.
Seriously.
The surveillance you folks do is pretty much indisputable and far more incorruptible compared to everything else we do, in healthcare especially.
Very often you are my “discussion ending gun” when decision makers endlessly want me to prove their (flawed) point of view. A “nope, here are validated wastewater based numbers, you are wrong” is extremely satisfying sometimes.
Thanks folks!
Consulting in healthcare/public health/public safety
Thanks for confirming that you’re full of shit.
Because there are very very few Sliding Synch (which is the part of X that makes it faster) instances at the moment and only one that has a major userbase…
Wouldn’t say that. With most Matrix Clients, WhatsApp, etc. it’s far easier. Especially from a perspective of a elderly, less tech adept user.
And on which instance did you experience that?
Very unlikely by now, these issues have been adressed a while ago.
Matrix is slow on large instances, but that’s not the case here, especially if no federation is done.
And the issue with sluggishness is currently the main development focus with ElementX/matrixX that will become mainstream matrix soon. With that even the large instances are extremely fast.
It is literally one setting in Matrix to force all rooms to only do encrypted messages.
Signal is pretty unintuitive when it comes to multiple devices per user, device transfers after a device has been lost, etc.
Hahaha, my second long term girlfriend was a bit…naive… tbh… We’ve been naked many times, but when we first went to a public sauna(which is textile-free here)she asked me exactly that.
Maybe it was the sagging old man’s balls or something. But she was somewhat shocked.
Ikea is hiring people for it’s Robolox branch. But generally Chat moderation(aka being a fake chat partner in the more, well, infamous partner seeking platforms) is an option, same goes for normal phone support/callcenter work.
Fiverr is an idea, there are similar jobs as well.

Yeah,I know the St. George part is safe, and I am fairly sure the missus knows as well - we have done more dangerous shit in the past. But there is always a difference between knowing and feeling. So we have to wait.Hopefully this nightmare is over soon and the Putler defeated fully.
Lol. Didn’t know about Ovid. Another reason to hate the guy.
Tbh, I stayed at efforie, a bit further south. Also absolutely lovely place.
I had a trip to Constanta and the danube delta scheduled… But then Covid happened and the war - sadly there is zero chance to persuade the wife to go to the Delta while the Ukrainian side is under fire.
Anyway, I will be back. (I live close to the beginning of the Danube and that would be fairly interesting to see the end. Additionally we are often in the Delta of the Po which is quite similar - and we love it there)
Funny enough for me it was also a Romanian town - Constanta.
Actually a fairly nice city with even nicer surroundings.
Nice place.
Paramedic and former ambulance calltaker: Children, especially that age, were by far my preferred callers. They usually are easy to calm down, they follow commands, they answer questions directly. (e.g. “Does the patient currently have trouble breathing?” - an adult answers "Well,he always had this slight wheezing since he caught the Vietnamese Bubblebuttvirus back in 1972, but it got better in 1992, and then he had…’ - a kid simply replies: “he is coughing a lot and breathing like he ran a lot”.).
But back to topic: Same age as you were, probably 10. I was a huge fan of the local fire department back then. One day the adult son of my next door neighbour jumped off their roof, easily 8 to 10m. (Mix of suicide and drugs)
I called the ambulance service, specifically asked them if they would send a helicopter (they frequently do around here), rode my bike to their usual landing spot and led the crew to the patient.
…While three adults forgot to call the ambulance or called the police (different number here) or the local hospital (not helpful, they do not operate the ambulances here.
Maybe, just maybe my career as a paramedic was predestined on this faithful day. (Guy made it,btw. But had more success a few years later)
First aid courses at school do have an effect, I cannot recommend them enough,I have countless sucess stories I came in contact with over the years, including a group of three 12 year olds that resuscitated their teacher.
I have a very special set of songs for you:
Now, listen, here is the important part: You do not play all four songs in a row,oh no. You play the first song in a loop for days, every time you go to the loo. Maybe even place a loudspeaker with a motion sensor there.
Then you stop. And once they feel secure again, when they pull out their stupid phones again, then you strike again. With the same song!
Then, after a while you stop again. Wait for a while. Of course, they have learned and then expect the previous song again. But nooo! Another one,not one bit better than the first one.
Break their pooping souls this way!

Basically: The Swiss Intelligence Agency do monitor all traffic going in and out of Switzerland(including incountry routing that uses external routes)and have the right to safe as much traffic as they want for 18 months- and can force swiss companies to give them access to their infrastructure even when they do not provide a service for non-swiss customers. Coming from a Intelligence agency that had the highest amount of files of their citizens of all democratic nations once (see Fichenskandal) it is more than troublesome.
Additionally swiss privacy law itself, while improved in 2023 after years of doing nothing, is still inferior to the GDPR. Unlike the GDPR it is not necessary for a person to explicitly consent to data collection unless the data is deemed especially sensitive. Unlike the GDPR there is no time-limit to notify authorities of data breaches and it is only mandatory for high risk breaches. And the right of data deletion is severely limited as the company can refuse to delete the data if it is still deemed “necessary” for the original purpose.
For me this is also why I can’t take Proton and Threema seriously. Whoever uses “swiss privacy law” as a marketing catchphrase without lobbying for improved laws (especially before 2023). And Proton openly lies on their “Why Switzerland” page.
