It’s a center left Web 2.0 / Death of Traditional Journalism outlet, but still credible on a purely factual basis i.e. basic reported facts are probably accurate.
It’s brand of leftism would best be described as progressive Democrat, and their analysis and editorial choices should be understood as primarily coming from those sensibilities and culture affectations e.g. educated, middle class, and a socially/culturally left brand of neoliberalism.
News, tech, left-wing politics, memes, anime, and porn are Lemmy’s biggest community types.
I know a lot of different subtopics fit under each, and I’m sure I left a few top level subjects out, but my point is that there are a lot of mid-sized, and especially smaller (by Reddit standards), subreddits that Lemmy is no where near being remotely useful as a replacement for yet.
I have community subreddit collections that I don’t see Lemmy replacing anytime soon. I mean, I hope they do. I still check every so often, and yes, communities for them exist and they have maybe a few dozen users, but not enough to even try to just suck it up and deal.
Just duct tape some EREC (explosive reactive egg cartons) on that bitch and you’ll be good to go.

That doesn’t mean they were magically enhanced to be impervious to antimaterial weapons, or other types of kinetic damage that happen in combat.

Laser’s aren’t difficult to counter, and are extremely dependent on uncontrollable operational conditons i.e. the weather.
No one weapon of the military is used in a vacuum, they are awful bloody tools in a large toolbox.
So having this will expand the capabilities and cost effectiveness overall, but not because it’s singularly amazing and unbeatable.
If the official statement is immediately blaming “outside influence”/saboteurs, then I’m inclined to believe that it was very likely just a good old fashioned gross negligent fuckup, which may, or may not, be attributable to corruption and generally lax Russian safety standards.
Shia aren’t really known for terrorism. Death squads? Sure, but what right wing government doesn’t partake in a bit of death squad shenanigans.
Terrorism is much more of a Sunni / Wahhabist tactic.
