i thought nostr was just where all the trolls are going because they can truly be anonymous shitheads.
Also because blockchain, I believe? It’s basically a cryptobro grapevine.
Downvotes rewarded with hugs.

Marketing, sure, but the onboarding from Instagram was a massive factor for Threads growth.
another for matrix I forget
If you or anybody else reading should remember the project, I’d be interested in hearing more.
Edit: If it’s this one you’re forgiven for not committing the name to memory…
“The” RARbg, as opposed to the RARbg that closed last year? I’d be glad to hear that somebody picked up where the original site left off.
No idea what the John Tucker thing is about 😆
Fingers crossed it’s just temporary maintenance!
I’ll grant you that their tech column is dismal, but I happen to agree a fair bit with their ideology so I’m pretty much fine with their (so far) unpaywalled news site…
You’re already free to support developers and instance owners financially if they’ve set up either Patreon, OpenCollective or LiberaPay 🤷 That’s money going where it’s needed.
If I understand SubClub correctly, it’s monetisation on a user level, which in the past has only really given us influencers. I rather enjoy not having that kind of bullshit on the fediverse.
…you think Satan is a literal man and “responsible for everything wrong with our society”? 🤯 Allow me to ruin Santa Claus for you next.
And now I definitely want to see whoever downvoted your post outed as cowards 👍👍
Couldn’t agree more, and if we passed around imaginary gold on Lemmy, I’d give you a dubloon for this.
The point of privacy is pretty shaky in this context, tbh. Anybody using the fediverse is ensured pseudonymity already, the privacy issue should be whether your account(s) can be linked to your real life identity against your will.
In that regard I can only see positives to making voting public. Foremost it could create some accountability to the system, and maybe minimise the lazier drive-by, doom scroll votes?
Heck yeah. Loads of pirated CBZs and CBRs.
Yeah, may be too soon yet. Or it successfully disappeared 🙂
Latest I can find is the fourth edition. Check libgen.
Telegram Channels similar to Mastodon but with specific topic
So is Matrix. There are both general interest and topical Matrix rooms (eg support or development channels for specific software projects).
AFAIK Matrix isn’t ActivityPub compatible like most of the fediverse, if that’s what you’re asking, but there are official and unofficial bridges for several other platforms so it may be possible.
Or — or — you could post less but better.
there’s a difference between voting down something because it’s not great in a community and because you’re trying to curate ALL
This right here 👆 ALL has its purposes, and none of those are “serving your individual perfect home feed”. It becomes a tyranny of the norm. It is/was the biggest problem with Reddit, I’m surprised despite my own instincts to see that it has migrated here.
I’m not going to pretend I grasp the technological details of either Weird or the Leaf protocol, but the basic concept of superpowering the personal website as identity provider is very attractive — and the passion of your writing is infectious 🙂 I hope to someday reach a lightbulb moment with your work and just implement it on my own site.
