Firefox is fundamentally fine; a lot of the recent-ish news about it has been sensationalist (and it wouldn’t be surprising to find that Google or Brave LLC were seeding it, honestly, though I’m totally speculating).
The AI stuff is just them exposing the DOM to an LLM of your choice, if you want to, to stay competitive with the other browsers. If the telemetry is an issue for you even when you’ve changed your settings, use a fork like LibreWolf.
*boucey – they’re Irish, not Scotch
When you install TikTok, it fabricates its own independent SoC within your phone. Sometimes you can tell because the case bulges slightly, but it depends on the model.
This isn’t strictly forbidden by Android and iOS APIs (yet), but there are limitations – this most notably affects the capacitors on the new SoC which degrade quickly and can make a faint clicking noise, hence the name “TikTok”.
I really wanted to like Baldur’s Gate 3. I didn’t play the prior games in the series, but I know a bunch of people who brim with excitement about it.
I’ve not really been involved in DnD in any form. I played the original Warcraft RTS as a kid, I’ve read everything from Tolkien, and I love some of the Elder Scrolls games, but that’s about it. I’d always got the impression that a lot of it was a bit hammy and amateur on the writing side, but I assumed BG3 would buck the trend.
…I just didn’t vibe with it at all. I found the combat exasperating, I didn’t mesh with the character motivations, and I failed to really get immersed. Maybe I really needed more backstory than a couple of lore lessons over beers.
It’s obviously a great game, but it was such a miss for me, and I wish that weren’t the case.
Huh, I thought NYCDOC on Rikers Island finished Epstein’s sentence.
I thought they were the ATH M50X, but on comparison, they’re just similar. Perhaps a cheap knock-off.
A society predominantly attended by hobbits.
Relevant bits, without corny jokes, from the original Ashcroft Fire Rescue post on Facebook:
A quick investigation revealed the cause of this fire. It was determined to be a fish. The fish had an incredible journey, considering the river is 3km east from the point of origin. The fish had been dropped by a local osprey onto the hydro line causing embers to drop, along with the fish, to the dry grasses below. We do suspect by the size of the fish and the heat of the day probably caused the rather tired bird to drop its catch. It has been verified that our prime suspect sustained no injuries in the incident.
My best efforts from the script, but it ultimately goes to show that you’re right:
And skins, tanned, stitched, and treated with resin. Pottery is also an ancient skill.
Insufficient data!
Was the bench around a corner or jutting out? Was the boy part of a crowd that obscured the bench? Is the bench somehow camouflaged? Is it static and stationary?
Is the boy fully sighted? Is it dark? Did someone distract him? Was he panicked by someone? Could he have deliberately run into it?
There’s meant to be an internal rhyme there, as in “take one down and pass it around”. I suggest “tinker a bit, push a commit”.
Also, “programming code”? I’d go with “legacy app” or “code monolith” or something.
And let’s also change “92” and “99” to be make the refactor comprehensive.
Tell the iPhone that the output isn’t headphones and it’ll stop warning you. Plug it in, then head to Settings -> Sound and Haptics -> Headphone Safety -> USB Audio Accessories.
[email protected] would also be appropriate, though the mods might disagree.
(For those not from the UK, “butty” is another word for a piece.)
I’ve not used LibreWolf, but assuming that Firefox addons are generally compatible, it might be worth trying Chrome Mask. It’s made by a Mozilla employee.
There’s some discontent around Sync at the moment because of apparent infrequent developer updates that mean it hasn’t kept pace with changes to Lemmy. There’s nothing wrong with financially supporting developers - quite the opposite - and app development isn’t a cakewalk, but it’s worth doing a search to get users’ opinions before spending the money in this instance.
Persist with the video! The text-to-speech is only for a couple of quick screens - the rest is very personal, and they cover a bunch of use cases.
If you really don’t want to, the server OS they recommend around two-thirds of the way through is YunoHost, a beginner-friendly way to run services as containers on any capable spare computer. The YunoHost website has a bunch of use cases that are also covered in the video.
