  • I agree. I don’t really see any problem with her performing the play.

    BUT, I’m not sure the library should be forced to let her use the space (or be assessed civil penalties). So, I don’t think she should sue or that the suit should go her way.

    I could be convinced if the library is supposed to be providing performing space to the public and the library is controlled/funded by the government. Then, I think she might have free speech protections, especially after they had done some scheduling. Asking her to change the characters definitely seems like content policing, not mere “time and manner” control.

  • I think my Reddit account still exists, but I haven’t logged in since 3rd party apps stopped working. It took me a bit to find Lemmy, and I’m still not on it was frequently as I was on Reddit.

    I deleted my Twitter account when they announced they would be training grok on my tweets. I hadn’t logged into it since Elmu mass-banned a bunch of journalists for retweeting the “Elon’s Jet” account. I decided Mastodon was more likely to not get between me and the journalists I wanted to see microblogs from.

    I’m not hardcore. I an still well-entrenched in the Google ecosystem (primarily YT). I still have a Facebook account, and occasionally login to un-tag myself. I use Amazon Pay / Paypal whenever I can, tho I at least stopped paying for Prime when they decided to start putting ads in Prime Video stuff.

  • Based on the simulations I’ve seen, yeah. I’m sure there were plenty of panic in the sub and during the anaphylaxis, but I believe once the sub failed, there was less than a second between in first physical sensation to the complete disorganization of the nervous system, rendering the sub death quite painless. With anaphlaxis, even a sudden, sever attack, there will be several minutes of (at least) muscle strain as your diaphragm desperately tries to pull in more oxygen, and also general pain as your tissues squeeze against one another as they expand and nerve cells die.

    I can and have accepted death; I’m too old to believe radical life extension will save me. But, many deaths are incredibly painful. If I have a choice on how to go out, inert gas asphyxiation seems best, but some sort of rapid disorganization isn’t too bad. Anaphylactic shock seems worse.

  • I was a daily reader of CAD at the time and I thought the reaction was disproportionate, but none of my partners have ever had a miscarriage during the time I was with them, as far as I know. (I cannot have a miscarriage myself.) There were some reactions that just seemed “mean”, but some people that had experienced a miscarriage (or a partner’s miscarriage) felt attacked/wronged by the comic for various reasons. I personally thought it was creative, tho it was not the tone I was expecting.

    I think we mostly still don’t really know what makes things “go viral”, so I’m really not sure why it did, though I think most of the “meme-abilty” has to do with how “recognizable” the minimalist takes make it. Ex: :.|:;
