Your argument absolutely has merit. However the opposite is that there might be people there who are aware there’s maybe way more to their small world, and want nothing more than to see it.

I care more about the latter, but mainly because that’s how I would think. If we found out there’s an alien superhighway passing over earth hidden from us, and they’re keeping us “protected” and not allowing contact, I’d be very pissed off. I immediately would want to leave, meet the aliens, learn their ways and knowledge, etc…

Also, it seems kind of morbid and archaic in a way, keeping them protected. Not like a zoo by any means, but still. If we knew for certain they all wanted to be left alone, that’d be better.

This feels really psychotic. All of this really makes me want to question reality. Are we in a simulation? Are we an experiment by an advanced alien race, and they’re tweaking parameters to study us?

Upgrade was not a “B” movie by any stretch. Low budget doesn’t mean B. Upgrade was more well done than much of the “A” stuff that’s put out.

The problem is, many believers (arguable how many, but it could be pretty substantial) could be regarded as legally mentally handicapped. This is generally regarded as an IQ of 70 or below. What about those that have IQs from 70-85? Not legally disabled, but very easy to manipulate by intelligent people and would have a difficult time navigating propaganda.

Are the extremely stupid at fault? I’d say no, the entire blame should be placed on those in power who are manipulating these people for personal gain. It’s truly psychopathic and sadistic.

But no pity whatsoever to someone who is smart enough to understand, but chooses to go along due to cowardice or other reasons.

This is one of the main purposes of religion. To get slaves to work. The slaves of the time were obviously uneducated, and easily manipulatable with superstitious thinking. Would love to see them finish it and stay as close to the books as possible. I think they already deviated quite a bit though.

The only peaceful method i can think of would be for enough people to collectively get together and agree to completely stop buying stuff, other than food and absolute necessities. No luxuries, none. But you’d need enough people and to do it long enough to completely destroy the economy. It would be very boring for a long time.

It’s not about making big money. These small time landlords still drive up the cost of rents by going with “market rates” and increasing rents over time. They are just “small time greedy”.

Not nearly as evil as large scale landlords obviously, but rare to nonexistent is a landlord who won’t continually raise rent when they don’t need to.

I’ve rented from mostly small time landlords, more importantly I’ve worked with, and currently work with people who buy and own extra rentals as side businesses to rent out. They brag about having tenants pay their mortgage, and I hear their experiences of raising rents to get more money (their mortgage hasn’t changed, they just want more). They both laugh and complain when tenants need things fixed, they delay and try to figure out how to go cheap or “how can I legally place the responsibility on the tenants”.

Decent landlords are a small minority. Most who do this are leaches. Fuck landlords.

Think about slavery in history. Christianity was forced upon slaves in US history. Think about current era people working horrible conditions, factories, sweatshops, whatever. What a CONVENIENT verse for the slave owners.

Just be good, do what you’re told, don’t fight back, and love your enemy (exploiter/persecuter). If you do, promise of heaven like you said.

But if you disobey (commit murder, dare I say of the person exploiting you), infinite and eternal torture and suffering in hell.

Also don’t commit suicide, that’s a sin too so straight to hell if you do.

And also they push religion hard which is inherently a system of control for the uneducated and exploited.

No serious health problems and make enough money to not be homeless and have minor luxuries.

As soon as I get cancer or some serious health issue, or about to be homeless, c’est la vie and good fucking riddance.
