I’m the developer of the Photon client. Try it out

All ~14M users quit the fediverse simultaneously on that one day and changed their mind a day later
In gen z, I see it mostly used as an ironic “this is sad”. It’s like how 😭 is used as a laughing emoji.
example:
“this guy really thinks that was tuff (cool) 🥀”
My residential IP (an inconspicuous Comcast network) gets blocked by this garbage on so many websites. I don’t know why VPNs are less suspicious to sites than my random california ip
Yes, it’s very simple too. You don’t even need to extract anything from a database or do some complicated stuff. As an admin you have free access to all moderation tools no matter where the post is from, including the option to “view votes”.
I cannot listen to lyrical music, it ends up making me mad. I can’t explain it. I just stick to instrumental or game soundtracks to listen to
If you’re an instance admin, for any post, you can just click “view votes” and see everything tied to usernames, even outside your own instance. Moderators can too, but it’s restricted to the communities they moderate.
Irrelevant but its funny how in English “x aren’t shit anymore” can mean it got better or it got worse simultaneously
“are we serious” whenever something negative happens
Not to advertise, but you could try Photon. It’s what Tesseract was forked from wayyy back as me and the tesseract dev’s philosophies split.
It’s more opinionated, and features are carefully organized compared to Tesseract where plenty of shortcuts and links are given (which isn’t bad at all, just targets different preferences).
LLMs are such an amazing technology, but they are used and understood completely wrong by the corporate world.
People are growing dependent on it which is a problem, but the transformer model is really cool imo.
The way ActivityPub federation works, once an instance is “linked” (like lemm.ee linking with lemmy.world, lemdro.id, etc), the instance will now send them an event once a post is made or something like that.
For example:
So yes, every Lemmy instance stores copies of new data from other instances once they link.
You can access Photon at https://phtn.app/ to use any instance, or selfhost.
Additionally, some instances I’d recommend that use photon are
I’m curious why your instance, sh.itjust.works, hosts Tesseract but not Photon. They have diverged so much they cannot be considered similar.
Part of Gen Z and almost all the people my age I know are heavily conservative. It’s pretty isolating.
I mean that’s why it’s “mildly infuriating”, it doesn’t enrage me as much as Twitter requiring a sign in for the whole site.
I removed it because I don’t want my app to necessarily depend or be associated with any specific centralized external source, like MBFC. By adding it to my app, I’m implicitly supporting its use, which wasn’t necessarily my goal.
You can only see which mod did it if you’re an admin
Doesn’t have to be installed on your instance, you can also use the official web app instance. It’s very similar to how Voyager works.
ill delete mine if:
it has any form of information that could potentially be used to personally identify me when I realize retroactively
i get embarrassed when I try to contribute to a community and get down voted to oblivion
