  • Latines now make up 20% of the U.S. population, making them the largest minority group. Among the under-18 demographic, that number climbs to nearly 30%. If current population trends hold, Latines are poised to become the largest ethnic group in the country within about 25 years—that’s just three presidential terms away.

While Latines are a minority ethnicity, they are the largest one and the second-fastest growing, trailing only Asians. Asians, despite having one of the lowest birth rates, experience the highest proportional rate of immigration. Notably, Trump gained 12% of the Asian vote in the most recent election, a trend across these growing demographics that, if sustained, could spell significant gains for Republicans in the future.

However, let’s not overlook the broader electoral picture. Black, Asian, and Latine men and women combined make up about 29% of the voting public in presidential elections, while white women alone account for a staggering 37-38%. For context, Latino men represent just 5-6% of voters. White women are, by far, the largest voting demographic.

Interestingly, Trump increased his share of all women by 7% compared to when he ran against Biden and has increased his support from women each time he’s ran. The devastating thing, I think, is that Trump won 13% more of the 18-29-year-olds, 5% more of 30-44-year-olds, and continues to capture “Boomer Lite,” aka Gen X, a majority of whom he has won each time he’s ran, but he increased his share by 9% this time.

Edit: corrected an earlier data error.

  • What are you even talking about? They’re curating the communities and instances they engage with. That’s literally one of the core functionalities of the fediverse.

“YOU’RE NOT ENGAGING WITH LITERALLY WHATEVER IS PUT IN FRONT OF YOU. MAYBE YOU SHOULD STOP USING THE INTERNET!”

    Omg I’m dying lol 🤣

Hey OP, I have a suggestion for someone to block… I’m going to block him as well.

  • Avoid and mitigate fumes. Buy a jug of D-Lead hand soap and laundry detergent and use it. Get regular blood tests for lead levels.

If you have or are regularly around small children, you need to be extremely diligent about the above. That goes for all you idiots obsessed with guns as well. Primers use lead styphnate and create lead vapor everytime you fire. Worse with rifles because your face/body is closer to the expelled gases. Aside from breathing it in, you’re also getting a nice patina of lead residue on your arms, shirt, face, hair, etc. You’re also likely tracking in lead residue from your shoes into your home. If your kids play on the floor, guess what.

Do NOT fuck with lead. There’s no safe level of exposure, and it can be devastating to the developing brains of children.

  • Oh WOAH. You just made me understand wtf is going on with the payphone in the scene at the beginning of War Games! He was making the clicks by hanging it up repeatedly. You just unlocked a memory of me and my dad, he loved that movie. That as well as what was going on in that scene! I can’t believe that scene came back to me right now and connected to what you were saying.

Apparently my brain wanted to know how that worked while my conscious brain didn’t really think about it much other than “huh.” At the time. My dad did make me watch it like five times though.

  • You’re supposed to dial by putting a finger in each number hole and then dragging to the stop. So they dialed zero correctly, but only zero.

How do you do that with only five fingers?? I guess that makes sense that the was such little time to dial it. Like you put each finger in the holes and then spin the whole thing? How does it figure out which… wait, then how would you do repeated numbers? Or did numbers never repeat…? I’m confused.

  • I would probably have similar difficulties… I can’t even tell what they were doing wrong and then suddenly doing right. I do know the basic motion because I’ve seen it in shows I think, like you spin it around… but I never really thought about how precisely you do that. And you only had a certain amount of time to dial it?? That’s crazy.

I will say I would have figured out you need to pick it up first sooner. But even my office phone I dial the number, see it on the little screen, hit send, and then lift up the receiver if I don’t want to use speaker phone.
