Also the time needed to perfect that skill wouldn’t have been available that far back. If you’re needing to spend the bulk of your time hunting/gathering food and other forms of basic survival I don’t think you’d have the hours every evening to work on your shading techniques.

In my experience, the people who complain about being the only ones doing all the hard work are the ones doing more complaining than actual working.
One would spend several hours almost daily chitchatting at other people’s desks about how they are the hardest worker and things can only get done if they do it, they’re the first in, last out, etc. But spends half their day complaining instead of working.
Another is a serial whiner who says no one else ever does anything, they have to do it all in order to get it done, yet they always have some excuse why they don’t have to come in that day, or have to leave early, take a longer lunch, and spends a good chunk of their day gossiping.

This one particularly hurt. The house was listed at 350 a couple months ago, the price was reduced 10k, then went off the market, then yesterday was relisted at like 330 and claims “brand new flooring in 3 rooms”. Someone consciously chose this to be installed, thinking it would help sell their already overpriced house.
Like, the salesperson needs to say “this flooring is popular among houses that stay listed for over 3 months and have their prices reduced around 25k”
Because that’s what houses in that area were going for on the high end. Cost of living where I am now is redonk
So I’ve spent the last month looking for Houses. Nothing special, nothing extravagant. I came from a 1700sqft ranch with 3 bed, 2 full bath and a car port, small town, sold for about 215, and I got 135 take home after everything was paid off.
I had to expand my budget to 350 up here just to sniff houses that aren’t in absolute disrepair on the inside and would require 50+ in reno, are 1.5 bth, or someone watched a couple episodes of Flippers and did a shittier job of “updating” the inside by putting the same cheap shitty grey vinyl flooring in several rooms.
There was 1 house I really liked, good area, open floor plan and a great basement. Downside was all the first floor carpet needed to be tore up especially since there were large stains in one of the bedrooms and it was poorly installed so was already buckled and loose, and there were cheap vinyl tiles in the foyer and kitchen that showed their wear and had to be removed. Just under 1700sq ft listed at 340 and went over asking the day it hit the market.
Another house, looked move in ready. 1500sq ft, with a half finished basement. Went to look at it…the house is claustrophobic, and the carpet needs to be pulled up also because of the terrible condition. The owners “finished” the basement by putting large vinyl tiles down themselves…which have already buckled and are about an inch off the ground in several places. They have a back patio which is about big enough for a Weber kettle grill and a camp chair. They’re asking 336, claimed they already had an offer when I was looking at it but I noped outta that shit. That was a week ago and it’s still on the market so either they were using BS tactics or the “offer” was for what the house was actually worth and they refused it. It’s also the smallest house in a large neighborhood.
What lasted forever for me…CFLs. downside is they just don’t seem to put out as much light. But I had some in my house 10+ years old. They lasted so long that when one finally burned out and I didn’t have a replacement of the intensity…I was pissed to learn they don’t even make them anymore. I’m not a fan of LEDs because some of the cheaper ones are like mini strobe lights and really big my eyes. I had to go through like $60 work of LEDs to find a set I actually liked
In my house, the fans are on 100% of the time in my master bedroom and the living room. I rarely turn on the light in the living room because it’s super open, and the TV is always on, the kitchen is completely opened to the living room and on the opposite side is floor to ceiling windows. My bedroom fan has constant power to the fan so that’s always on and I sure the light switch.
The last few times the fans were not on is when I lost power.
In their new house, my parents put those remote controlled fans in the spare rooms we’d stay in. It’s controlled by a switch which is an all-or-nothing. When I stay here holidays (out of state) I prefer to have the ceiling fan on at all times because the room is usually several degrees warmer without it. So to leave the fan on but light off when I’m not in the room, I have to find the remote…that they refuse to mount on the wall in the small case it came in.

…Whenever you’re at the store and make a debit card purchase with the option for cash back, get some back. $5, $10, $20…whatever. And put this into a rainy-day fund. You never know when you might need some quick cash or it’d be the make-or-break for a quick splurge.
Granted, I learned of this method from a friend of the family who used this method to hide money from her husband so take it with a grain of salt.
Most of my sleep shorts/pants just come from whatever section is on sale at kohls, target, belk, etc. the softer the cotton the better. I don’t have any dedicated sleep shirts, most of the time they’re the T-shirt I wore that day, or just some older larger shirts.
Yeah, as much as I love poly dry fit stuff during the day it all rides up so easily at night and I end up feeling constrained
The need to always seem manly around other men…in particular the choice of music. Ride in the car with certain people, they always have to be blasting hard rock or rap, or hard country depending on your location.
Meanwhile I’m over here enjoying switching between pop, rock, new wave, alt and even my playlist of exclusively Elton John, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel and Billy Joel
2 former coworkers of mine who always the smartest person they know. One of em lives alone and you can tell he’s never lost an argument (with himself in his head) and anytime he tries to back up his opinion it’s always the same “it’s dumb, it’s stupid, it doesn’t make sense it’s not LoGiCaL”. But anytime you try to chime in…he talks over you.
The other is one of those “I read both sides of the story so I know far far more than you”…who was a one of those reddit knowitalls.
