  • but also ironically the stereotypical american dream was only feasible for a short time thanks to the work of unions, which would be decried as horrible communists in modern america, and frankly the whole concept has a lot of socialist undertones in general which people love to ignore.

It was thanks to strong union movements that people had such wealth, ever since the unions got beaten into a pulp workers have been paid less and less and at this point the idea of one dude supporting a spouse and 3 kids is fucking hilarious.

  • at least for me this simply isn’t physically possible, most days the mere thought of even moving significantly when i wake up too early fills me with a sort of bone-deep almost painful exhaustion, which can only be forced through via external motivation like

it’s fucked because that obviously seems like a serious issue yeah? and it certainly feels like something is severely wrong, but then after an hour of drifting in and out of sleep all of a sudden i’m wide awake and feel perfectly fine.

i can only assume it’s something to do with the body’s sleep mechanisms not properly disabling when i wake up, and man do i wish i could just give my nervous system a kick so it snaps back into always functioning fine…

  • beans and onions are famously difficult to grow and transport, yes.

we live in a time where with the magic of freezers we can literally make bags of mostly nutritionally complete food that can be kept frozen for at least a year without any loss of quality, and then you can just toss that in a frying pan when you want to eat it. Healthy food isn’t a luxury, it’s quite cheap and easy and everyone would have access to it if it weren’t for a small amount of abjectly evil people actively preventing it.

  • you hear that said about AI because companies are desperately throwing more and more resources at it to get 0.3% better results, and people are collectively running an insane amount of prompts all the time.

but on a personal level it’s not really any different from any other computations, people render videos all the time and no one complains about the resource usage from that, because companies aren’t trying to sell bloated video rendering services to gardening businesses.
