  • Usb c has 24 pins. A typical barrel / stereo style jack has 2 - 4. The connector would have to be absolutely huge to carry the number of wires.

Power plugs are similar problems. You need 3 wires and you can’t risk the pins crossing over each other and shorting out. You don’t care about that on your headphones due to the low voltages. Wall plugs need to be fully isolated and safe.

  • I’ve spent at least $5000 on aliexpress over the past few years, maybe more. I’ve never had an issue that wasn’t resolved with a refund or a replacement. They’re pretty reliable and I’d recommend them to anyone. They stock a wide variety of components and parts if you’re building electronics or just general DIY / 3d printing / home stuff.

Temu feels way more sketchy. They try to shove more stuff down your throat, and they even have little mini games where you can try to earn free things. They’re way more about just pushing cheap shit. I tried them once, felt dirty and have never gone back.

  • Oh that’s super interesting, thanks for the heads up.

If it was unreliable I’d do this, but despite going through the LG cloud it’s pretty bulletproof and instant. I just have to open their app every 6-12 months or so to accept a new EULA. Really shows how shitty their app is though, since their cloud back-end seems solid.

Edit: Oh actually, this feature might sell me on doing it: “the unit doesn’t make annoying sounds when settings are changed by this controller”
